  1. just wanted to bring this one back to the top, please post .. it doesnt have to be as big as the other posts or even as detailed .. I will do mine for a example..: crankbait on a rock ledge..... real easy no lure name or size and it just takes a sec to post .
  2. well we in all honesty was not fishing for them but instead bass. so I couldnt give a you a answer on how many you could expect to catch while actually walleye fishing , but i can say that we have caught alot of keepers while fishing for bass which leads me to assume that the lack of walleye fisher-man on that lake has made it ideal. I have found these walleye fight like a beast and often think i have a bass on , it's not the normal " o im hung up " strike you have come to expect . almost always taken on crank baits and spiner-baits while in the mouth of coves or on the shallow flats running along the south bank here lately 8-14ft of water seems to be where i get the most of my walleye strikes.
  3. sorry this post is for fellows lake.
  4. I would like to collect this info and try to find some of the trends, place it in a graph of some sort and re-post my findings ...any info including bait and or lure type .. conditions would be helpful too (i.e. bluff side , shallows , channel, river) no need to come off that favorite lure name just a general description (i.e. buzzbait, jerkbait, plastic worm.........) you get the idea , make it easy to categorize . no need for size or story just your personal best bass ever Lure and situation.
  5. not as many big bass as the 4th but we had alot more fish in the boat ..the topwater bite was on when the clouds rolled back, otherwise spinerbait or plastic worm is the way to go it seems. stay close to shallow flats with main channels next to them... as I said before ,Cast into the weeds. this is the only way to pull the big ones out . let spinerbaits fall before retrieve and keep them slow .. spot fish the plastic worm around the many well traveled paths through the weeds . If you dont like your lure looking like the swamp thing you are out of luck , the algae is thick and on everything sub surface to 20 ft of water . A zara spook seems to be the best for this lake so far(for topwater) and proves to be a nice break when the algae is just too thick. The fish have been very active in shallow waters leading up to this climate change , all week is reported to be rainy w/ a huge cold front pushing in from the northwest. conditions today were mostly cloudy ,very windy ,light sprinkles with the sun poking out every other hour or so .If this week turns out colder with more rain expect tough fishing .if its a mild day like today (just windy) look for em to stay in those flats. good luck .. .....when I say flat and fellows there is only one bank that matches this description when your motor is dragging through weeds and your high centered on gravel humps your there, just make room for me.

    Help

yea I dont want to run very far up with one unit on .. I dont think going above fall creek would be a good idea ..thinking more downtown branson area ..any help would be much appreciated .
  7. forked stick works well .. I enjoy a few spring onions with my sushi though
  8. I have been fishing fellows alot lately because im laid off from work and it is the cheapest alternative ..so i have gotten a real good chance at finding what the bass are doing and the "phase" i think they are in. If you would like to split gas w/ me , I would be more than happy to take you out and show you what works.

    Help

I love fly fishing , and usually just wade . I would like to start taking the boat on taneycomo though and could use some advice on where to put in at . What do i need to look for if i motor through with one unit on? Is it difficult to keep strait and out of the prop busters with just your trolling motor? I realize alot of bigger boats than mine come through the portion i wish to fish but I still think i could use some pointers for my first time there with my boat ..(i do not have the money to replace anything if i break it lol) I have a 16 ft aluminum v-bottom widest beam available, 25 hp motor , 45 lbs thrust foot controlled trolling motor and plenty of battery. any advice would be very helpful ...I would even be willing to take a person that knew what to do to best avoid damage to my rig if they wanted a free fishing trip..I have plenty of fly rods and make my own flys so just bring yourself and some knowledge . no big hurry I would just like to try it one of these days so any help would be very useful .
  10. 1996 125cc kawasaki 2-stroke full on mx'er .. 2 expansion pipes , 2 final drive sprockets , 1 full set of gears , 2 chains , flywheel weight , 2 spark aresters , bark busters ..top-end is all brand new , new counter sprocket ,new springs all around , new dampeners in the front ....1200$ obo starts first time every time . one owner 10hrs on the new piston and jug....runs great and really dont want to sell it but have to if I am going to wait for work to pick back up .. I have a full set of gear and track clothes if you fit em chest protector down to gloves and helmet .. and a women's set of the same (just sold the wifes bike ) will throw in the gps mount if you have one that fits it .. no you dont get my gps.. post for info or pictures . still needing to sale my bike .. make a offer post if you want a picture
  11. could not cast 2x and make it in his boat ....:mental note take snagging rod next time I run into this alot because I like to follow a good bank for a long way just picking apart every piece of structure , I try to give people more than enough space ,some are nice as can be and some are just jerks
  12. When I go fishing lately there is a real sense of hatred from some of these other fisherman... I make that statement because of this most recent event. As we set out across fellows lake the 4th I never once thought I would see what transpired that day. Even posting as I am now it is difficult to figure out what was going through this mans head.I set out on the north bank of fellows around the 3rd cove west from the marina , as i entered this cove I noticed another small v-bottom like mine , two guys sat inside . One with a birds nest fit for a condor ,the other facing him and mouthing every step of the way.As my friend and I watched this small amusement we began to catch fish at the point of this cove. Just lil fellers but none the less fish..we had been trolling all morning , doing very well actually (for fellows)and from what I over heard ,way better than they had. After catching 2 and 3 fish each from the same general structure (mind you still far away from the circus that was taking place ) I was ready to move. I trolled across the edge of this cove ,never entering it , I often give people some insight on what im catching fish with in these cases (especially if they are doing the same type of fishing as me ..bass crappie w/e ) . As i opened my mouth to tell him plastic worm just caught my buddies first 5 lbs bass ever he began to scream at us .. not just a "hey get out of my spot " he got mean. yelling curses and swears he threw his pole down and sat at the console of his boat , started it and took off as fast as his boat would go in 7 ft of water .. at this point mouth agape nearly worried for the safety of my boat I kicked the troller into 5 and tryed to embrace for the swells ,this guy had gotten so upset that i was about to get within 100ft of him that he endangered not only his boat but ours too . Not to mention he left his trolling motor down and his buddy still in the high chair in the back holding on for dear life with wads of line floating about his head like a veil . Is this why we fish ?.. to have no fun and to make other people uneasy?to get so uptight over someone being close to you or even worse trying to say hello or share info just does not seem right . This makes me curious now though are all of you mad if I happen to troll by and say hi from a very safe distance or do i just run into the 1/10 of all jackass' that roam the earth. my opinion take a breath and remember that its a free country ,if you dont like seeing other people stay home and fish in your bath tub.
  13. Took alot of big bass all day . There are alot of 3-5 lbs bass just sitting in the weeds waiting for , plastic worm , spinnerbaits or even a topwater lure to come by so they can smash it to pieces .The way they were hitting all day in the shallows on anything you threw made for great fishing .Walleye were being taken on crank baits as we fished from cove to cove ,try staying 8ft or so with a shad-rap around the inlets of these coves for some keeper walleye. spinerbaits should be fished very slow , cast in the weeds...not at or around or next to ..this simply wont catch them..CAST into the WEEDS fellows has virtually no structure so your safe to pull the motor up and get those lures back, just make sure you keep a paddle to get back off the bank w/. let spinerbaits fall to the bottom before retrieve ,plastic worm should be pulled over the weeds and then let to fall as soon as you see a clear spot . as always light prismatic colors on sunny days and darker colors on overcast days ..now is the ideal time to catch the biggest bass .. take it slow and pick the bank apart .any live trees or weeds should be first priority.. good luck
  14. I have a few of those , guess i just didnt know the proper term.
  15. I usually catch em on jerkbaits or crankbaits on the south side of the lake shallows going into the main channel is where they like to stay.. I would suggest something deeper if your just going for them . Try a big bucktail jig or maybe even a spoon there are alot of techniques just depends on how you like to fish i wont go through all of it , the bullshoals thread probably has all the info you need on the different styles of rigging and live bait applications (more than i want to type)is there. these fish are not easy to catch .. walleye are stocked from what I have read , white bass are not.. either way i just enjoy fishing , have not kept one for years .good luck and make room for me I am the fluorescent guy with his shirt off w/ fishing line wraped around me like a mummy.
  16. I got totally skunked sat. night fishing.. so your post makes me feel better, i took a whack at everything in the james river arm . the only real strikes i ever got were around the boat docks .. every thing was just slaping it around and not actually grabing it.. i had one really good bass that i winched up from 20 ft of water, got him to the side of the boat and he fliped off before i could get him in . I hope they start getting active soon, not really wanting to battle the house boats in my lil aluminum just to catch a few bass so i guess i will keep pluging away at the james arm til something happens for me .. ps. whats the shakeyhead things im always hearing of ,anything like the wildeye shad from wal-mart?
  17. The bass are hiding on the points right now ..outside coves , you may catch a few chasing stuff into the coves ,but its a right time right place circumstance. found most are hitting spinerbaits or lipless crankbaits off the points (as always prismatic or chrome for sunny days .. darker colors for overcast or rain) you can still get a few at the back of the coves with top water or around the weed beds in the south end of the lake. for a added bonus throw a green spinerbait into the weeds there for some nice white bass ...if you see a 16ft aluminum pull up make room white bass pic

    28th

took alot of fish throughout the entire day ,crankbaits ,spinerbaits , and spooks are working well. just grab a semi shallow bank 15-30 ft deep and start trolling, use the crankbait on points as you get into a cove try changing to a spinerbait in the weed beds or around the standing timber(spook would also work around the timber or weeds)..rinse and repeat for a great day of fishing... we started at the cape and after exploring the high water and options we ended up only a mile away catching fish one right after another. look in 2-10 ft of water for lots of cover and a gradual slope in the bank ,this will be your most productive fishing early or late ..try staying a lil deeper until you get to that next cove or large pc of cover. The conditions were very cloudy , light rain , high winds..this weekend is supposed to be much nicer . good luck
  19. what area of mo. or mb even specific rivers would help refine your search . Come back with the info if you find some , i cant find anything. It would be nice to know of the restrictions if there are any but . I honestly dont think there are.
  20. springfield lake and fellows lake are the only two i know of with hp restrictions as far as rivers go most people use a canoe so you may get a sense of over kill when you pass me doin 30 as I troll up stream ...
  21. The rains made the visibility very low but we still done very well bass fishing in the weed beds w/ spinerbaits.. cast right up in the weeds and just lightly twitch it out for the best reaction.. light green /white skirt , blue and white head and willow leaf . zara spooks took a few , tiger striped perch color crankbait (shallow running)also had a lil luck. good luck battling the jetskiis and pontoons , go real early if you can just to avoid the crowd .. it can turn into a real circus on the holiday weekends so be careful out there.
  22. Lol
  23. yea my mistake . no smallies to be had on flat creek .. I hear its like deliverance down there anyway , should prolly cancel all plans if you dont know how to deal with the locals
  24. Grew up on stockton . Love to fish. Everything from the surroundings to the sport itself is a great experience for anyone young , old and in between in my opinion. I am 23 yrs of age and reside in springfield . Living in the ozarks my entire life has given me a great chance to enjoy every style and season of fishing we have to offer, the most of my time is spent bass fishing from my 16 ft aluminum v. w/ 25 merc. but I also enjoy fly fishing , snagging, and floating for small mouth on flat creek. I am new to the forum , just wanting to share and learn as much as possible about what I like to do most. Thanks for the site guys
  25. My friend and I took a trip to fellows the 19th . 2 barely keeper largemouth and 1 muskie of 30 in. for myself , 1 keeper and a few smaller large mouths for the other guy. everything was took in 3-8 ft of water on crankbaits. I lost faith in top water in the first hour but i would think it's getting close. tried spinerbaits and some brush hogs with no luck . vegitation with a good drop off near by provided the best fishing . use chrome or a prismatic perch color on sunny days, darker less vibrant colors on overcast. We will be going back friday in hopes of a lil better topwater action (my favorite) with the water on the fall and the color getting clearer. I would suggest chrome spook , buzz bait (if the water still has alot of color) if you like top water. Fellows has never been a favorite of mine but being laid off from work has some what forced me to look at cheaper alternatives. If anyone has a good suggestion for bass fishing fellows I'm all ears ( or eyes in this case) not having much time there has made it difficult to zone in on the fish so any help would be much appreciated. using ol' faithful til one of you old timers come off the secret of fellows Ämp® Topwater lovers hang in there, I found many more bass staying in the weed beds today ...All day ... in fact I seen more boils than a dermatologist . took around 10 bass in all , only 2 were of legal length but still one of the more enjoyable trips to fellows thus far. found a few in the back 40 but most were in the clearest waters of the lake right off the main body . Shallow crankbaits seemed to get a few strikes but nothing held my attention better than jerking away on that spook and watching them rise.Had more than one good strike on plastic worms but all in all i would still suggest hanging to a bank 14 -20 ft deep ,spot fish with a spook in the weed beds and keep a good jerk bait or crank bait around for the deeper holes.
