  1. Are there 20lber's in Bull and can you catch one? Sure. Does the powerball ever reach 500 million and you have a chance at winning it all? Sure. Do people that fish bull fillet fish in the 'trophy class of 8-15lbs'? Sure I've seen it. Do your odds go down of catching that 20lb monster when people keep trophys for table fare or whatever they do with them? Sure. Let's face it, when people CPR (Catch-Photo-Release), your odds of 20lbers would only increase. But, I think that 'window' you talk of, is closed or at least it keeps on closing a little bit at a time. But I believe the state record walleye is in Bull, Lower Bull. In deep water and feeding on all the little immature bass that swim by. She's in the depths that a fisherman never reaches,...and for good reason. I dream daily that the 'window' is not yet closed.......then I pinch myself.
  2. Hey everyone, I'm researching cabins down on Table Rock for Memorial weekend and it's overwhelming. I'm hoping to stay in the Cape Fair- Aunts Creek, Kimberling City, or Baxter/Mill Creek areas. I'm looking for your help on what resorts are good ones around those areas? Hoping for a nice cabin that is close to the water and a resort that has a pool for the kiddos. I'm hoping someone out there has passed by a resort while fishing and said "wow that looks like a nice place to stay". Anyone have any suggestions one which ones to check out? Any info would be much appreciated! Thanks guys!
  3. I forgot to ever follow up and let you guys know you were right on! The GPS puck was draining down my starting battery after it sat for a period of time. I went to AutoZone and picked up a quick disconnect for my positive terminal just to be safe. (Instead of always getting under the dash and disconnecting the power to my graph) It cost me $4.99 and it's just one dial that you have to loosen off the terminal so there isn't any connection. Took me 5 minutes to install and now I don't have to worry. Plus, I am glad that I found out the problem in that puck. You guys were a great help, thanks for all the responses!
  4. Yes, yellow perch they are! When fishing in MN and Canadian water for walleyes, you can really get into some dandy perch. Some pushing 13-14"! And I'll tell you what, they are pretty darn close to the same awesome taste as a walleye! In fact, many guys go 'perch fishing' just for that reason. Could be another species to chase in the Shoals someday when they get big, but they can be pesky at the same time!
  5. I moved to the Ozarks 2 years ago from MN. I've never heard a sunfish called a perch in my life until I moved here. In MN, bluegills, pumpkinseeds, etc are 'sunfish'. Here is a picture of a perch. I have to agree with powerdive on this one! And yes, thanks for the report OG, I love seeing reports from the upper end as I usually launch at Cape! LOVE the prices at the store too, I can't believe how reasonable they are!
  6. Hey thanks for all the great tips and advice guys! I will take it all into consideration! I do have a Lowrance GPS in the boat, and it's the older model so it has the external 'puck' that sits on the dash. It is hard wired directly into the batter also! There is nothing worse than having to worry about whether or not your battery is going to crank your motor over when you hit the water. I have to get this problem resolved! Thanks again for all the help! I will let you all know what I find out!
  7. Hello fellow fisherman. I've got a Ranger Reatta that the starting battery goes dead if it sits for a couple weeks. I'm not sure what could be drawing that battery down, the battery is brand new too. It did it with the old battery also. I'm sure there is a way to put a tester on the wires to see what is drawing...right? Has anyone had this problem before?...and maybe have some advice what to check first? I'm not the most mechanically inclined person in the world, but can figure it out if pointed in right direction. I suppose I could go buy some kind of disconnect too, and install? Any thoughts, ideas, answers would be awesome! Thanks everyone!
  8. Bill, Thanks so much for your input. I tried hard to see if I could find some white bass over the weekend with no success. I had figured they would be shallow because my neighbor was just up on Stockton a couple weeks ago and pounded them in 6 feet of water. Obviously that is a different lake, but I thought maybe they would turn on on Table Rock as well? Do they move into the shallows during the fall or late fall periods? I did my best to see if anyone was fishing the flats, but it seemed like everyone was pitching the shorelines for bass. I guess I will have to keep trying. I'm hoping that the white bass still have a hot bite left in em! Thanks again, I appreciate the information VERY much!
  9. Hey guys.....Wondering if anyone has any tips for getting some white bass on Table Rock now through the weekend. I was out on Flat Creek last weekend and they definately weren't up there. Thinking about trying Aunts creek this afternoon...to see if they are around. I'm not a very experience white bass fisherman, but would love to take my nephews out to catch a few. Are they usually deep this time of year or should I be able to find them in the same bays that I did in the Spring time? Any help would be greatly appreciated guys. Thanks!
  10. Thanks for the response Ozark Trout Fish, so let me ask this question then. What would be my best bet to go and find big blues/flats/channels? I grew up in northern Minnesota and fished the Red River a lot up in Winnipeg Manitoba. We have always crushed the trophy channel cats up there, catching many fish....20lbs + being the norm. I realize that might not be possible here, but I would love to break out the heavy catfishing tackle and chase some big cats. Any ideas for me with these guidelines anyone? I'm wondering maybe the Osage River or the Truman Dam? Thanks for all the help.....
  11. Hey guys, need some help locating some good catfish waters whether it be Table Rock, Truman, etc. My wife and I just moved to Springfield and I am in search for the best catfishing that the state can offer. Blues, Flats, Channels, any one of them will work. Is Table Rock the best lake for this? Or does anyone have any good suggestions for me on where to go? Not looking for anyone's hot spot, just some general direction. I would prefer fishing for them from a boat which I do have. Any help would be much appreciated guys. Thanks in advance!
