they say it has to do with the hellbender becoming rare that they won't stock browns but There in other rivers that have browns so I don't understand it plus theres a good chance that with just a stocking or two that they would reproduce since our rainbows can I would assume a brown could too since they have the spring branch to go up in with no fishing allowed there a good chance for them to make it to become bigger browns I just wish they could figure out whats happening to the hellbender so they can move on with a brown stocking in the eleven point since thats what holding them up Any how got out today and fished caught lots of great fish incuding my first two trout on a dry fly out of the eleven point were both about 14 to 15 inchers starting to notice a nice hatch going on some fish keying on the surface of the shallow still pools so I said what the heck tied on yellow stimulator and on the second cast I missed setting the hook only to follow through with the third cast landing a nice bow around 15 there was a long pause with no action and just as I thought it was over BAM on the swing another nice one couldn't beleive this dry fly action on the eleven point and they weren't minnows will always remember this day not to mention I had a small Buck swim right to me with in 20 feet before it relized I was there I took a pic of the deer and the first fish on the dry fly by the way the fish was not foul hooked the hook came out while he was in the net so I just set the fly on him so everyone could see what I caught him on didn't think to put it near to his mouth just didn't want him to die on me took me a moment to get my camera ready and was worried I had him out to long but he recoverd very well with no need to hold him in the water as soon as I droped the net in the water out he came on his own

guess should have just asked the boss huh hahaha but thanks for the info man did not know for sure so there is McCloud blood in the river so I must have just caught one that has a stronger gene of the McCloud then others plus being a stream born trout and what ever it's diet. is the reason for such strong Mcloud markings hope to see more of these but BUT BIGGER small is good too Hopefully a sign of good things to come maybe one day a new guy will bring the wrong truck and dump browns in this river but thats just a dream that will never happen

thats something I woud like to know more about . I don't where do they raise our stockers for the eleven point river system you say Shepherd is that the hatchery ? seems like I remember reading something about a hatchery that has found away to raise trout that look just like wild trout the only thing I Can't put a area with the hatchery this is something I would like to know I get alot of people asking about this river now that Im working for brian at his canoe rental I would like to be able to answer this question Any body have any idea ?

the best way to tell is look at the fins if l there all there most likely it's wild stockers have a fin cliped in this river and if one slips past them the only other way to tell is there colors are off untill there spend some time in the river system with a different diet then pellets it would get it natural color back I guess but there tips of there fins are much more white then a stockers will ever be note the picture I'm pointing to the white fins it's hard to see the top fin in the photo but zoom it and you can see my hand has it folded down

Had A great Time Today At both locations browns are on the move with nice sizes being caught only caught one rainbow nothing to talk about. but did see many nice size trout (mostly brown ) and few nice size rainbows water was low and clear... light tippet needed I used 6x cause thats the smallest I had I would even use something smaller If I had it t fly choice a prince nymph (never used this fly here before today) worked for me till I lost it to the jaws of a nice brown Oh well at least I got to get a fight out of him before he decide to run off into the deep green pool the fish today were high flyers with three coming clean out of the water and one to come as high as around five feet that one broke me off when he slaped the water never had one come as high as this fish that fish made the hall of fame for air in my books only took two pictures nothing real big compared to the fish I saw swimming Post pictures later !!! part 2 @ eleven point caught some nice fish this morning 6:00 am to 9:00 am NO records broken but some nice fish were caught numbers were low but what lacked in numbers made up for in size and fight headed off to the spring river for a afternoon get away caught a few there for a slippery two hours then back to the homestead over all A great day. stoneflies big and juicy for the eleven point and peacock stone on the spring is what I used but I recomend stopping in the the local fly shop and talking with Mark and getting some of his flies He ties some great looking flies by the way don't slap the bee on him IT"S NOT REAL ! haha

went for a few hours at graveyard hollow the bite was on for sure only fish for around 3 hours but in the first hour and half 10 trout and one smallie was landed the last hour and half were spent mostly walking around between hole to hole was playing in small deep holes today not much fishing did land two more and lost a few butt well did notice today the fish were biting on the retrieve as much as they were on the drift I was just out for some relaxing time to my self for the afternoon was really just playing around and wound up catching several trout if someone was wondering when a good time to fish the eleven point was right now may be the time before the heat sets back in brown stone and red/white egg did the trick today over all fun afternoon at graveyard hollow by the way did catch half a fly rod today so maybe it can be returned to it's owner there is a group of guys who just lost a rod tip in this same hole I was fishing so email me or call up to the Eleven Point Canoe so we can decide what to do with it
-

first off my name is Tito DeGiosio I am currently working for Brain Sloss over at eleven point canoe He has gave me some advice on your river but I am looking for as much info on your waters as I can get before I take my first trip there I plan to spend A few days there once I arrive and will need to rent A canoe as well thats the least of my concerns I would like some advice on what to have with me as far as flies go I assume you have fished the eleven point and from what I understand your river fishes alot like it deep long drifts and deep deep deep as I tell the folks who come here if your not hooking a few rocks and debree your not deep enough just some info on what to bring would be plenty I have a good idea on where I want to concentrate on catching some hogs just want to make sure I have the correct flies for your waters plan on fishing it as soon as the temp. drops and the crowds settle down I like the off season fishing but what would you suggest anytime I have two days off in a row I would like to be on the water fishing so I mostly fish here at the eleven point but I am ready for some change and new challenge gonna go to the barren fork creek as soon as I get the chance because I heard it is a more difficult section well any advice you have to offer is great also I was talking to Brain Sloss the other day about catch and release practice and handling practice as well that there few people who know about about a trouts survival rate after it has been handled to long and there slimy film on them and it's purpose I would like to see more talk about this subject just to inform the ones who don't know so they can understand how delicate these fish really are and practice catch and release and proper handling practice so that they can have many more great memories as well as more trout in our streams thanks
-
alright we will see you then me and brain will both be there brain will know more on what water is best so be sure to catch him when you come in But I do think cane might be running alittle on the low side so dragging may be a issue but if you want smallies then thats a good start with trout starting where greer spring puts in see you then

glad you guys had a good time I do think the fishing has been great here lately with lots of good healthy fish does always stink alittle to lose a rod or part of one and as far as rod wt goes I use a 5wt or 6wt this last trip I went on I used a 6wt for the day since my 5wt was broken but thanks to temple fork fly rods in less then 2 weeks they had me fixed up and back on the water with my 5wt for those of you in the market for a new rod give temple fork a try you will be suprised by there rods and how good they really are plus they will take care of you if something hapends there priced right and have a great feel be sure to talk to Brian at eleven point canoe rental about a temple fork fly rods if interested in one I always injoy reading your fishing reports and I am always willing to give advice I wouldn't suggest something if I haven't tried it and know that it works though I must say Brian Sloss has gave me some great advice for this river and it has really paid off this guy knows this river like it's the back of his hand and has tried things on it that some wouldn't consider he knows what works and knows how to read the river be sure to talk to him before heading out he will make sure you got what you need so you can make the best of your day on the water I thank all of you for stoping in at Eleven Point Canoe and we look foward to seeing you again

went out 7th and 8th of july had a realy great time, fishing was good caught several nice trout with numbers in the 17 to 19 1/2 inches range brought along two friends one of which has never fished this river he had fun on the first day but didn't catch many trout on the second day he used some of the advice me and my friend gave him and before long he was catching trout at every shoal we stopped at including one above 18 inches spent lots of time at mary decker this shoal fished the best of any all day with fish count at 14 trout and one small mouth around 15 inches if not more caught fish on Eggs and peacock stone flys and don's crawdad did alot of droppers with eggs on first and stones on bottom landed trout on the eggs and stones two days between greer and turner was great idea and paid off well fishing the fast water produce some nice fish as well the biggest fish caught was in fast water but don't forget about the tail waters at the seam of the faster current and the slow fish were landed at every shoal we stopped at water was clear as it has been in along time and provided the chance to catch some nice fish on sight instead of feel or strike almost like fishing dries in away I recomend getting out now and doing some fishing if you got the time fishing has been great

hey Cricket How did it go I didn't get to talk to ya when you returned today I went out did some fishing of my own caught two nice bows didn't measure but around 15 to 17 inches easy caught a few around 12 and under caught everything close to greers first shoal and the tail end and on the right where the water splits and canoe travel is not safe tried several different types of stoneflys and wound up using a egg patten for the rest of the day set my strike indicator at around 5 to six feet and adjusted alot for different areas and used a split shot about 12 to 14 inches above my egg didn't do much fishing after that I spent alot of time in those two holes and was pressed for time so had to get moving How was it down stream by turner ?
