  1. I am planning on going jugging this weekend. Anyone have any recomendations. I am staying at mile 13 on the big niagua. Thanks, David
  2. My family recently purchase a place on LOZ. I have gone crappie fishing with my father in law. I am very excited about next weekend. I will be coming down with my brother and we will be doing some hard core bass fishing. I have never fished LOZ for bass before. I will be fishing in the niangua and little niangua. I live on the 13 mile marker on the big niangua. If anyone could give us some help we would appreciate it. Thanks, David
  3. Last weekend my brother and I cought a good 40 fish shallow, mostly males.
  4. I was just down with my brother and we fished Friday, Saturday and Sunday (1/2 day). We found the conditions to be the best we have ever seen at the rock. The lake is stained with 2 - 4 feet of clarity. We fished Aunts creek to Kimberling City. We did very well with each day having a limit by 10:00 am. We probably caught 2 fish in the morning for every fish we caught in the afternoon. My advise would be to see which way the wind is blowing and fish the banks that had wind on them the previous day. We cought fish on anything that looked shad like: Grub, shad rap, spinner bait. We also cought fish on plastics. Most everyting we cought were males in less than 5 feet of water. We had several times where we cought 3-5 fish in a small period of time. about 1/3 of the fish we cought were keeper. Are average bag each day was 12#'s for 5 fish. Good luck
  5. I am coming down to the rock tomorrow to fish with my brother. We typically fish from the KC bridge to Aunts Creek. I was hoping we could get a little help. What has been working for you folks. What is the water clarity, etc. Thanks, David
  6. Again, I am excited. Coming down Thursday to do some crappie fishing with my father in law. I have never crappie fished. any help would be greatly appreciated. Are you guys using minnow or what are you catching them on?
  7. Thanks for the help folks, agian we will be coming down next weekend and any updates would be great. Thanks, David
  8. I am 13 miles on the big niangua and will be down for easter with my father in law. I only bass fish, but he is a crappie fisherman. I would like to crappie fish with him but do not know where, how deep, or with what? Thanks, David
  9. I am a long cast to the bridge. My place is at Cedar Heights. I probably will not get to fish until late April. We only have one slip and we will have a ski boat in it. I am looking for a slip to rent for the bass boat. Thanks, David
  10. I just bought a place at LOZ. I love to bass fish. I have only fished LOZ once. My place is on the big Niangua, 13 miles to be exact. Please respond with best lures to use. We will be in by early March. Thanks, David
  11. I have a 1999 Skeeter with a 150 VMax engine. I is hard to start sometimes, mostly after it is warm. This fall had it out on the rock and it did something I can not figure out. Once it got running it ran great unless I went over 80% on the trottle. If I did this it would completely stahl or die. I ran it for hours at 75% throttle without an issue. Thanks, David
  12. Dude you have way to much time on your hands and your an idiot. The 20 straight days of bluebird skies and the cold front is why the fish were not active. I did salvage Saturday and Sunday. Caught 4 keepers. Our group had only 5 other keepers between 6 other boats. Anyone know what the derby took to win?

    Help

I am down here for my annual fall fishing trip. It was a beautiful day today, however, I got skunked. If anyone can help that would be great. I know that the cold front, blue bird skies and minimal wind did not make things any easier. Please follow up tonight with any advise. I threw my entire tackle box today. If it is this bad tomorrow I my throw my tackle box in the lake. Thanks
  14. I have to say that I think taking a kayak on the rock would be a mistake. I always try to find a body of water that a boat cant get on. In a large pond or small lake you will find better bass fishing. There is much less pressure and they get bigger.
  15. I was fishing in my kayak last Saturday and caught what I know was my largest bass ever caught. I did not have a scale with me so improvised. I cut my line for length and girth. The length of the bass was 26" and the girth was 16.25". If any of you have an idea of the weight that would be great. I released the fish and am wanting to get a mount of it. Thanks,
  16. The speed limit on Missouri lakes is 30 mile per hour 30 minutes prior to dusk and 30 minutes past dawn. I have a few kids who are getting their license to boat and it is in the Missouri boating handout.
  17. Thanks for the update. You said the fish were biting. What type of fish were you catching and what patterns were you using. Thanks, David
  18. I am at that excited point. I will be heading down in a week. I would describe myself as a decent fisherman. I have the tackle necessary to catch fish with any patern. However, I have never fished a lake that is 40 foot out of its banks. I will be down with 4 boys that are 8 -14 years old and would like to be able to put them on fish. Please give me any advise on what to throw and where to fish. I would like to stay on the MO side of things. We will be staying near Theodosia. Second question: Last year when we went to Kentucky lake we put out a trot line. All the bait was gone and no fish were one. Can anyone make a suggestion on what hooks and what bait to use. Thanks
  19. My family along with two other families will be heading down to Bull Shoals Memorial Day weekend. I have been watching the lake levels closely and see that it is up 38 feet. It looks like it has stabilized. With our big group we will be tubing (about half) and fishing (the other half), We rented a house on the water about 10 (by road) minutes from the Theodosia Marina. My questions: Is the water, or will the water be safe for the water sport folks? Will I be able to put in at the Theodosia Marina and store truck and trailer while boating or fishing on the water? I am a fisherman primarily, and I know the lake is very clear. I would think that the lake will have settled by now and is clear? If anyone could put me on fishing patterns that would be great. I will be fishing early and late in the day. I frequent Table Rock and have only fished Bull Shoals once (about 2 hours) before. Any guidance would be very appreciated. Thanks,

  21. Just read that the Corp has closed Table Rock lake for 14 days. Is there anything like this on LOZ?
  22. I will only be bass fishing. what five lures would you recommend I bring. Thanks,
  23. I will be heading down to LOZ 4/28-4/30. I have never fished LOZ prior to this trip. Please help, I will be staying at mile marker 40 or so. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks,
  24. Did what you said. All we had luck with was a grub. In the next day and half we caught about 30 with 7 keepers. Had a 4.5 LM, 3.5 SM, 3.2 SM with some spots mixed in. We caught a 14 inch spot that was as wide as a football. The seven keepers weight about 20 pounds.... Thank you for giving us a fun day on the lake.
  25. Mr Babler, I appreciate all you gave for me and my boys to do. I will need to run to the store, what size shakey head do you recommend. Also, I will be difficult for the boys but should I stay in the wind? Thanks,
