Watched a guy catch a real nice smallmouth in the Black river near Lesterville with a flyrod...... Earlier in the day put some goggles on went under water and seen couple nice largemouths several small smallmouths and hundreds of suckers...... It was pretty cool the water was very clear.

Thanks for the info i just started baiting a hole last week with corn and they are showing up to feed.. i had about an hour a couple nights ago to kill so went down there to try and catch a few so i baited the hole threw my line out and bam my rod bent over reeled the fish in it was a channel cat about 2 lbs. any other time it would of been cool but trying for carp....lol So i got frustrated and went home and have baited a couple times since then but haven't been back to fish. I'll let you know how my next round goes.

Ok i screwed that up i got some better looks at the carp and they are common carp not grass carp I tried corn yesterday no luck worms didn't work either. A guy i work with told me of a doughbait that consists of wheaties banana 1 egg and wheat germ..... anyone heard of that????

Fishing Report - Middle Current - Smallmouth

Fished the current all weekend although boat traffic was heavy we still managed to catch a few smallmouths but they were all about 11 and a half inches long and also caught about 4 small pike and some perch oh and i forgot we only caught 1 goggle eye between 4 of us i was shocked.... but anyway still had fun. -
Thanks for the info... My buddy nor I know what the breed of the grass carp are i know the pond is 50 years old so hard telling when they were put in there i figured they had to be reproducing though cause the pond which is about an acre and a half is full of them i've seen 12-14 grouped together on top of the water and they are darker in color than the common carp. There are bass in it but small i figured their growth was stunted. I haven't fished for catfish yet so i'm not sure i did fish with worms in their once and never got a bite i caught the small bass on plastics.

My buddy has a pond full of grass carp he wants to get rid of... so if i cut up cucumbers and or cherry tomatoes they will bite?? Should i fish on the bottom ??? His pond is like 12 foot deep at the deepest. Thanks for any info

I'll be heading down to i think middle current this weekend (near Doniphan,Mo) to a friends parents house hopefully to catch a few smallmouths maybe even a walleye.... we'll see what happens.
