  1. Yep, AND after seeing that,... I wouldn't eat anything from any water source that flows south of there. (Of course I've been aware of that for years), I had to caution a family about the quality of water as they were swimming right there at the small steel bridge, on a trip to the yard waste area. I could tell they weren't "locals" and they probably just found a convenient place to swim, unfortunatley they chose about the worse possible place to 'go for a dip".
  2. Has anyone tried flyfishing for smallies on the upper James,....say from Marshfield area to Strafford. I've got a pile of different poppers & some dries I've been thinking of trying & wondered if anyone's had any luck. Thanks!
  3. Very nice, for sure!
  4. Good job on the pics Don. Thanks for posting those! Gallagher
  5. Yeah,... fairly new to flyfishing. I got geared-up & started the year before last, only went a few times, then last year was pretty much a washout with all the rain + busy work schedule, so I'm trying to get my hand back into it. As for the pics, I believe Don snapped a few but they were from a distance, I'll hit him up about those soon as see what he has.
  6. Don & I made a late afternoon trip down to Taney, got in the water around 4:30'ish & the fish seemed to take a variety of things they were presented with. We were in the vacinity of outlet #1,.. or maybe it was #2, sorry not sure which, but we were just up from that point, below the dam. They seemed to hit pretty good on a #16-#18 Grey Scud, I later swithed to a Shimp Scud of the same size & they hammered that as well, when things tapered off a bit Don was getting some serious hits on a short quickly stripped soft hackle which turned out to be very successful, during this time I was introduced to Kevin, one of Don's buddies & he was having great luck with what looked to be some sort of a chrome beaded head red something or another with legs, (sorry Kevin for the poor description) , but it worked great & he shared one with me, (thanks)! We wrapped up the afternoons' event by wading the shallower water below that point & drifted as we went. Don was able to bring 27 to the net, I was able to net 7, 3 more spit the hook on the way to the net, and I did manage to carefully miss several strikes . All in all a great afternoon! Thanks again to Don for sharing his knowledge, patience & expertise with showing a new guy the ropes. And Thanks again to Kevin for the invite for night fishing!
  7. Nah, not anymore. But I DO still have the rubberized muscle suit so watch out! Good to hear from ya Don, maybe we can hook up sometime in the near.
  8. I would have to say trout, as I've never tried for bass,....yet. I've been to Taney a couple of times ( successful only the first time), been to Roaring River got skunked, with the same result at Montauk. Work schedule & bad weather pretty much kept the fly gear dry last year, so I'm hoping to get back into it this season.
  9. Hi all, I've been around on this site before & was impressed with the wealth of information one can acquire here. I'm new to the world of Flyfishing, and I hope I enjoy it enough to hang with it, if I get the hang of it, I'm sure that I will. I'll be on the forum from time to time, so thanks again, and take care!
