Took the kayak out around 6am Saturday morning to check out a couple of changes I made, add a paddle holder. I caught a few small ones and a few larger ones, and took a couple pictures. Only one white. Of course all the fish were released to fight another day. I was using yellow and bass colored bombers and Joe's Flies. Over all it was a great first trip out this year.

I floated from Kerr to Cox this morning. A little cool out but it warmed up and turned into a great day.I had the river all to myself. The river was crystal clear, and between catching a lot of leaves, I did manage to catch a couple fish. Although early in the morning my hands were too cold to get the camera out to take any pictures. I have read in the forum, that now is a great time of the year to go fishing, but for myself I will be hanging up the paddle until next year.

I put in on the Finley at Jamesville and floated to Hootentown Access. Of course you can always float Shelvin Rock Access to Hootentown Access. And I got hooked on Joe's Flies this year and that's what I caught the fish on in the pic.

Went to the river Saturday hoping to catch some of the fall colors,a little too early, not many reds or orange yet. Fishing was slow but I did manage to bump into a couple of fish along the way. Overall a nice float down the river.

I have a new granddaughter, and thought it was time to install the car seat on the kayak. Because your never to young to learn how to kayak.... well, maybe a little too young. Just having a good time.

I use these as topwater. I bring along a popper too. I fish creeks and streams.Early in the morning toss one along side some grass or brush, let it set a few seconds, twitch it a couple time, bring it back a few inches under the surface as it makes a wake, stop and repeat. I have Bombers and Warts for my crankbaits. I guess I better not post a picture of the spider.

Let's not be bee haters. I also have a new grasshopper but, since I pack light in the kayak, it has not proven itself and earned a permanent place in the tackle box.

Put in up from Kerr this morning. Fishing was a little slow. I caught a few small smalls and a few pumpkinseeds. I decided to try a different Bee today. The one I normally use is a Rebel Bee but I had a new one to try. I'm not sure I like it's action but, as you can see, I had good results.

The river is down and I'm off work, so I took the kayak out today. I put in up from Hootentown around 6:30am. I tried my normal crankbaits, grasshopper, bumblebee, and crawfish, but nothing. I had good luck with a pearl crappie crank and bomber. But when I put on a couple of Joe's Flies the fish would not leave them alone. For anyone who have never fished with these flies I left a couple up in the trees you can have...I took picture of some and released them all.

I took the kayak out Friday morning 8/27. I called NRO the night before to see how much they would charge me to park my truck at their campground to take out. They said come on down and they charge $2. The wife put me in at Bennett Spring around 7:30 am. I tried rooster tails, mepps, crawfish, grasshoppers, and nothing until put on a white bomber. I caught a few of these, a couple those, and some others.I even caught the carp on the bomber. Nothing big but a nice time on the river. Only saw 2 canoes the whole day.

Yes, it was a little white combo. I just I should have thrown it in the back of my Escape and hauled it off. I dont know why someone would dump it out there.

No, I put in at Jamesville and took out at Hootentown. A quick short float before it starts getting to hot.
-
I thought it might be too hot to fish today but, no work equals had to fish. The river was a little low for my yak today. I had to walk a little down the Finley. Put in around 6 am. I didnt catch a fish till 7 am. I caught some nice google eyes, a few smallies, a small largemouth, and a hungry catfish. They were hitting on grasshoppers, bumble bees, and bombers.

Floated down to Hootentown Friday. I was hoping for a cloudy day. I put in a little before 6am. Caught a lot of smallies, not a lot of size to them but a lot of fun. Caught them all on rebel crawfish and bombers. When the sun came out and it started warming up, the fishing stopped.

I floated from Kerr to Galena last Saturday. Slow day over but caught several smallmouths, which were released safety back into the river, and a few rock bass. My son had his first double. Two largemouths on the same lure, a Rebel Bumble Bee. Something he will never forget
