My son and I went the Saturday before Christmas and did well. We were at the Watts area and the flow was very slow. We started fishing midges and they did well for awhile but what worked the best that day was a size 16 sowbug. After the midge bite slowed I started searching for what they wanted and that was the ticket. For me when the flow is that slow, sowbugs seem to be the ticket. Tight lines, Corky

Sorry DaddyO for the slow reply. I've been busy with my job and going to football games. The hook is a size 16 Tiemco 2499 SPBL . It's a grey thread body with the black wire as you mentioned. Underneath the thread is lead wire. I wrap about 6 turns first , then start the thread. I finish the head off with red thread. If you have anymore questions, I'd be glad to assist. REPORT. Well, my oldest son and I went to Watts this morning and arrived about 9:30. Not much flow at first but picked up as the morning went on. First 45 min. slow but found wat they were wanting or aleast looking for. I don't have a name for it but I started tying it about a month ago. It is a cross between a scud and a midge I guess.....LOL. You guys decide. All I know is it looks buggy and the trout seem to agree. I usually do really well on a couple of midges I tie and they did catch some fish today....just not as well as this creation. My son was wanting what I had on ......the only problem was.....I only had the one.......hate that for him! LOL. Lots of fishermen on the river today........but it wasn't too crowded to fish. Seems to me that you have to mix it up some and keep switching up until you find the one. I've started tying some copper and black midges that have worked really well. I haven't been in a couple of wks but think I'll try and go in the morning. I'll give you an update on how that goes. Tight lines, Corky

Good deal DaddyO! I agree with you concerning bigger fish at Watts but I'd also like to say that there are some bigger fish above the boulders at the gravel parking lot also. Tight lines, Amos

Probably true dgames. My son and I released every trout we caught. A fellow fly fisherman caught a really nice one and he was debating letting it go, I told him.........big trout are meant to be caught again........... He let it swim .......

Fished Friday and Saturday and did very well. The Wildlife dept. must have released some of their brood stock recently as I caught some of the largest trout I've ever caught in the LIR. The largest was over 20 inches and the second was over 18. Lots of other trout that were super nice sized. The trout pictured isn't one of the largest ones...... Tight lines, Amos

Does anyone know if Tenkiller is releasing water? The generation schedule shows no flow today or tomorrow........but that doesn't mean they're not letting water out with all the rain we've had. If anyone knows what is going on today or tomorrow please post. Tight lines, Corky

I use them exclusively. When I take them off I use a little water and scrap the glue off with my finger nails. Works for me....

Nice pics, thanks for the post. My son and I were there on Sunday and the fishing was a lot slower than in weeks past. We did however catch quite a few fish on small midges. Some of the flies I had caught tons of fish on in weeks past weren't producing Sunday. We caught the vast majority of our trout on a #16 rusty midge and a #18 primrose and preal midge (gold bead with gold ribbing). Lots of fishermen came out saying they had caught only a couple of fish and some with just a few bites so it definitely was a day were you had to search for what they wanted. Beautiful day on the water and still a lot of fun! Tight lines, Corky

Here is a pic of the sowbugs I used.

I was above the island this past Monday and started with midges with a little success. I moved up above the boulder hole and switched to a brown sowbug under a indicator. Tore them up!!! There was a front moving in that day and as long as the wind was creating some chop .........they couldn't get enough of it. I'll try and get a pic of the sowbug posted soon. Tight lines, Corky

Yes, that is what I caught the most trout on above the boulders.

Got on the river at about 12:15 and started on the NE side of the island. Took about 10 min. and a fly change to start hooking up. I caught 20 on the NE side of the island and then moved up river just below the boulders. Had a lot of bait fishers there and took two changes to figure out what they wanted. Moved up above the boulders and tore them up!! Had to have caught between 40 and 50 fish. Finished the day at about 3:30, was a bit windy but I think it actually helped the bite. Flies that worked for me today were a rusty midge, Primrose & Preal midge and 3 different colors of a yummy worm. Tight lines, Corky
