  1. i've been over there but didn't see public access to the lake part. Guess that would work. That spot does look like a hang-out, is it pretty rough? RS - I shot you a PM
  2. I went to that spot a couple mornings this weekend. It would be rough to try and get a canoe in through that spot like RS says. It worked well for me and my inflatable though. It was a nice spot to fish, but didn't catch too much except that it was very cool on the mornings I went so the fish weren't out in the middle of the river. I caught a few along shores but spent most of my time putzing around in the boat. pretty spot though. anyone know how the finley is past the jeep dealership? I was wondering if it opens up past that stream intersection there to the 65. the area at the 65 looks pretty wide
  3. yeah RS knows where I'm talking about. i've got a 2man inflatable so I'm going to give it a go tomorrow morning and let you know. Hopefully I don't come back to a ticket on the windshield...
  4. yep, drove by there today. anyone fish that area lately? I saw a few boats out there but I wonder if it's too much of a hot spot
  5. anyone know if there is a place to park and access the river under the 65? It looks to me like the Farm rd 177 goes to E timbercrest. I have a small inflatable so I don't need much of a clearing just a place to park.
  6. say, did you guys see that small clearing on Riverside Rd just south of the Inn? It looks like enough room for a car to park. Is that a place to park and put in? I've seen the no tresspassing all over the Inn parking lot, but this spot is well past there. I was curious if anyone has done that. As far as wade fishing, there is a good spot just south of the Inn. You can see it if you park in the Inn's dirt lot on the far side. nice little pool there. I picked up a small inflatable so I'm looking for pools to fish on the Finley
  7. i did try by Riverside Inn, I went to the bridge and was getting bites directly under the bridge (but there's no trespassing signs over there, so it wasn't me, it was a guy I know) I also saw that clearing over there off the left side of the Inn. Pretty spot, still no joy though. On plastics, are you throwing a 4inch out there? That seems too big to me. I don't mind catching pan fish, I'd like something in a pan. I'm thinking of going back to live worms for there
  8. anyone else having issues pulling fish out of Finley or is it just me? I've had a couple of early morning outings over the past couple of weekends and aren't getting anything but small bites. I've tried worms and plastic worms (4inch and cutting up one into a 2inch), floating/sinking, fast/slow. even some spinners and rooster tails. any advice for me? What size hooks are you guys using? I'm not used to fishing small streams, maybe I'm missing something. I've got a spinnercast rod with 8lb line. I like Finley because it's close to the house, but it's not working for me
  9. thank-you for directions and advice!
  10. sorry, I'm totally new to the area. Can you give me directions to where you mean? Are you going down Crenshaw road or puttin in right at the dam? I only ask because I haven't had much success yet. What bait set-up are you using?
  11. no worries, I just meant getting kicked out for trespassing is all
  12. thanks for the tips, I've been meaning to try by that Inn and Jeep dealership. That was a good read on bank fishing, I'll have to check out that golf course lake too.
  13. yeah I was on that metal fishing pier but there were a few guys trying in that overflow pool. There was a gross concotion floating in there so I wasn't interested in catching anything out of there. That's an interesting article on the Gar though, don't have that in my tackle box yet. Think I'll stick with Finley and James for some early morning weekends for now, see if I get kicked off that golf course or not.
  14. went to Springfield lake Sun morning in the fog. Did some shore fishing by the power plant and didn't get a thing. The water was really thick, seems too polluted for fish. About a dozen other people were out there and no one was catching anything on the shore. Anyone else shore fish there with success?
  15. thanks for the tips guys. I've driven over to both spots actually. The bridge on Linden looks like a party spot complete with graffiti so that wasn't too attractive to me for fishing. I took the F over to the bridge by 160, it looks like a really nice spot to try. I saw a bunch of no parking signs though, do either of you know a place to park there? I don't have a boat yet so I'm still looking for shore spots. I tried Lake Springfield this weekend and no one there was getting bites off of the shore. That water was really dirty there though along the shore
  16. I pass over lake Springfield every day on the 65 and see some boats with lines out. I'm wondering if anyone fishes there regularly? How do you fish it, if so?
  17. thanks for the tip! I've never fished weightless like that, but it makes perfect sense with all that lily pad cover there in the park. Any spots on the Finley better than others w/o a boat?
  18. so I'm new to the area, and fishing for that matter. I've tried fishing over at the park but haven't had any luck. There are some smart fish in there that can eat a worm off of my hook Any suggestions on spots to do shore fishing (haven't invested in a boat yet). I saw a post about going near the once Jeep dealership. Should I go with worms or crankbaits?
