  1. I was out Sat morning over by the lake house. I went towards the main body of the lake, trying deep with cranks and spinners with nothing. I went along both sides of the weedlines and still got nothing. I also tried a top water WTD plug. After a few hours I gave up. Little sign of life in that area, even a guy on the bluff side struck out. I wonder if the fish moved up river more.
  2. guess I better hold off then until the bridge is done. So there's still no accessing the lake from the Canyon road?
  3. they are taking longer than projected. Now it's listed as Sep 30th for completion. I'm not sure of the parking situation on the south end of the bridge, but I may check this weekend if I can park and access the lake from there
  4. I've noticed that too, about not catching bass where there's gar. I found a pretty good gar hole, down from Delaware town access. It's on google maps, listed as Blue Hole. Last time I was there, there were a bunch of gar. I only caught a few smallies there and watched gars chasing my lures.
  5. that's the only thing about fishing down there. You never know what you're going to snag and snap goes your pole from a gar or paddlefish. I'd be careful with the little one. It should get better down there with more rain and the water starts flowing again. I think there are a few LM bass stuck in that pool, but they've probably been caught dozens of times. Looks like you got that SM on the river though. Definetly have the full variety of fish there.
  6. I got word from MODOT that the bridge will be done middle of next week. I'll have to hit linden lake next weekend
  7. sounds like that work is getting in the way of fishing
  8. http://www.parkboard.org/info/pdfs/outdoor_days11.pdf may affect the fishing..... Anyone go to this last year? I don't remember seeing this event before.
  9. yeah the wind makes it tough but I like to use spinnerbaits most of the time anyways. Except this time I was on a mission to catch fish on the spook jr. walking the dog. That was hard to throw at times and when the water got choppy I was probably wasting time. I saw carp near that walkway bridge that's between the 2 freeways. There's some slack water over there and I kept seeing them jump. I think I'll try the lakehouse section of the lake this weekend and see if there's any bass left there. When I go, I have to sneak out of the house in the mornings and only fish for a few hours or until the wife calls
  10. I hit springfield lake this morning. Went around the downed tree by the 60 freeway. Caught a lm there on a zara spook puppy. the water is still very warm. not much action in that area though. Seems like several carp have take over that area. I went over to the spillway and broke that lure off on an average sized lm. Surprised it broke that easily, the front hook came out should get better after a week of low temps
  11. went over there this morning. They have the bridge blocked off still and no access to get under the bridge to the lake, going south on the 125. So I did a bit of wading in the area. The water was so crystal clear I was able to sight fish and what them grab the lure which is always cool. Just a few small smallies and sunfish. They went after a white booyah micro spinner and a small swimbait. Struck out on small cranks and plastics. The water is extremely low, there would be a lot of dragging if someone wanted to attempt a float. We need more rain! It was a cool weather morning and I was the only one there though, which made for a relaxing time hopefully they get the bridge done as planned early next month. I miss hitting Linden lake
  12. never tried before work acion. I'm afraid I'd get a fish or 2 and lose track of time, oh well, lunch break now
  13. ha ha been there. no naked wading anymore!
  14. yeah, I was wondering if there was a way around the destruction. Trying to save myself a trip, but may have to check it out this weekend
  15. anyone?
  16. anyone been over to the Linden lake recently? Is the lake part still able to be accessed with the bridge construction going on or is it just a river only access for now? I haven't been over there since bridge work started
  17. glad to hear you say it's been tough. I've been skunked my last 3 outings. Twice at lake springfield and now yesterday on Finley. I think part of my problem is refusing to slow down with plastics. I threw worms and jigs yesterday though with a few bites and no hookups, they were probably too little. I noticed a lot of little perch in that area now. I hit the little pond and could see some smallmouths there suspended and totally ignoring plastics and small cranks as they passed in front of them. oh well, it's still worth getting out of the house for a bit
  18. I'll check it out in the AM tomorrow. wonder if the cooler weather turns the bite on
  19. I'm thinking of hitting the Riverside Inn area. Any action there lately? I haven't been on the Finley, been wasting my time on Lake Springfield with no luck what lures should I go with?
  20. yeah, must have been you with the face that scares off fish! My dad and I left shortly after helping that guy with his paddlefish. It was the only excitment for us that morning. How'd you end up doing? Funny how that spot changes so much with water flow. Should get better if we get a good soaking
  21. yeah, the guy broke one rod fishing there. We did the bobber for a bit too, but I think the bluegill got scared off by spoonbill and gar there. A guy fly fishing had no luck either. But, there was also no water flow and it was real shallow. Maybe this weekend would be better after the rain
  22. rough for me too. got skunked twice last week on 2 3hr trips. Tried everywhere and everything, but no luck on the main lake. Think I'll try up river from the 60 next time. Got to see a guy accidentally catch a big spoonbill on the river dam side. That thing was huge ! I think spoonbill and gar are all that's left in the big hole by the dam
  23. try going in the Springfield lake park entrance. Take the small road until you see the turn in for the children's playground. Drop the kids off, if you have them:D then go down the hill to the water. There are a few open spots down there. If you're after perch, no problem, throw some worms, or chicken livers for catfish and perch. For bass, continue on down to the lake house at the end of the road. Try to hit the wooden stumps with a crankbait or spinnerbait good luck
