  1. looks like they're getting ready to tear it down: http://ccheadliner.com/articles/2010/06/16/news/doc4c17af832999b188247402.txt not sure what the plan is after they do. Maybe they'll leave that parking lot in
  2. I'm impressed by the bluegill numbers. sounds like a large population there. Are they big or small? I've actually heard that keeping them reduces numbers and increases size quality. I ate a gill out of there a few weeks ago breaded and fried, it was delicious I take the kids to the park for bluegills along the park, are you going with worms? for bass, try a small tube. Real in slowly, they want to see some action now it seems. I also go with a 4inch brown worm or green creature bait. Never had much luck with topwater tho
  3. true, I noticed a heavier fortification of that area. Maybe kids will quit jumping off that bridge now. Very tragic though If you continue on past Riverside inn, there's a small pull-off at the intersection of Green bridge road and riverside road. Enough room to get a vehicle in, I always use that
  4. i checked it out yesturday morning for a few hours. Climbed the spillway and hit it with my inflatable. Paddled past the houses until it kept getting shallower so I floated back to the deeper parts in front of the houses there. Caught only small ones, 8-10 inch range. Hit one on the first cast of a wiggle wart, then lost the wiggle wart to a tree. tried a green ugly otter for the 1st time. It did better for me that tubes and worms. Only got 5 in a few hours there. I'll check it out again, but overall it's a pretty shallow lake. no issues with locals, but they probably slept in. Saw a few floating barges that were homemade jobs. pretty cool
  5. scared me with fish porn, I was expecting fish in provocative positions.....
  6. how about tailwaters of Springfield lake, the springfield lake itself or fellows or Finley and James rivers? Any productive spots there?
  7. o.k., my 5yr old daughter got her first taste of catfishing. This came after the annual kid fishing day at Bass pro. Anyways, what spots does anyone recommend trying from the bank not too far from Ozark, easily accessible? Also, does anyone go with hot dogs or similar variation instead of stink bait and livers? We're just interested in the barely eating size variety. Any suggestions would help, I'm new at this
  8. that bluff in the 2nd pic is my favorite spot. simply gorgeous, usually some rock bass there too
  9. has anyone attempted climbing the spillway to fish lately? just wondering if there's any hostility and how the bite is. is that a very shallow lake?
  10. perfect. thanks again
  11. I'll have to try top water next time out. I spent last Sun for several hours with no luck on plastics and bobber/worms for perch. Sounds like the bites turned aggressive thanks for the reports, they are helpful! hope everyone's releasing those good ones
  12. how long does that float take approx? is it a good stretch where you don't have to walk the boat? i'm looking for a good fishing stretch to take the wife w/o difficulties
  13. was that off one of the docks by the warm water outlet or by the freeway? i never have that kind of luck by the outlet. do better on the spillway tho nice fish!
  14. you must have caught them all last outing! maybe they're preparing for the rain. hope they come out Sun. morning. if you're there Sun morning, check in with me, i have a white Cherokee and will be there with a guy from work
  15. yeah i saw your previous posts, prompting the trip on Sun. I've got white and yellow roadrunners, small 1 inch single tail grubs of the same colors on jig hooks. I wasn't planning on getting any minnows. Will these work? Do they want a slow swimming lure or jigged off the bottom?
  16. I'm going out to Mcdaniels Sun morning to try my hand at crappie fishing. Never tried for them before, all i know if from what I've read. Are lures like roadrunners more effective than jigs? I figure after the warm rain they should be shallow? anyone got advice
  17. forgot about Rivercut, I was there once, that would be better. yeah I don't have much luck at the Finley park myself, but some on here have. Should have small mouths though. Randy or smallmouthjoe are the guys for Finley questions hope the action gets better after this warm weekend rain. I messed behind the Jeep dealership a few weekends ago, only a few rock bass caught there. probably some blue gill too, but i doubt any SM.
  18. we must be neighbors, I'm a stones throw from Lamberts too. I'd say to try Finley park to do some fishing from the shore. It's a nice setting at least I've gone to the tailwaters many times and the catching is good, but man, the stench of the water and bellowing smoke of the power plant there just doesn't scream "welcome to the ozarks" for me. Plus I always get a lure stuck on all the cut lines that are in that part. I only bother going there in cold weather due to the warm water outlet keeping the fish jumpin. now that Riverside is closed, you could park next to it and do some wading east of the old bridge. nice wading section there.
  19. did you end up doing any exploring for a new put-in? I'd like to try Linden lake but am nervous about the reports on locals
  20. awesome story!!!! good job dad
  21. sorry for my ignorance, but what is fish skulls? smallies have to be released until May 23rd right?
  22. so is there really no place to park north of Crighton? I don't ususally have the luxury of getting dropped off
  23. does anyone bother fishing the upper james, like say around Sunshine and the 125? I see there's a lake there, is it accessible? how would an inflatable do in this area?
  24. good job Randy! i went for a few hours behind the old jeep dealer from 8-10am yesterday. Bunch of small bites on the tube so i switched to a small yellow roadrunner and only caught 1 little rock bass. I was trying out different things, for me, like the wiggle wart and spinners instead of plastics. Trying to improve my game. Not much sign of life in that stretch though, only saw 1 fish jump. Seems like the fire department there likes to play with their sirens when I'm there for some reason glad to hear Joe did well though.
  25. would Kerr be better then? to avoid crowds? the comment of nobody fishes there anymore and it's too crowded doesn't make sense
