  1. Yeah catfish are in the Little Sac for sure. I would think you'd do better from Taylor Bridge down.
  2. I waded a Little Sac tributary today, it was pretty slow for about a mile then I really got into them. I was catching smallies on every cast, probably 25-30 in short order. All released in good shape. It's awesome when you stumble onto a spot like this.
  3. I did some wade fishing this afternoon near the Greene/Polk county line. Caught 7 Largemouth in about two hours. A few on crawdad crankbait, and the rest on 3.5" green tube. Caught one real big one, 18" and fat on a big cut bank. This creek is so dingy all the time, I wish it was more clear like the creeks I grew up around (Beaver, Swan, Big Creek) but oh well, it's here near my house so I'm gonna fish it.
  4. Yeah my parents live at Linden and it's pretty wild at times.
  5. So basically it's going to be a permanent check point going in and out of Linden on the weekends?
  6. Yeah you can get up the dam. I got a canoe up and over before. Go up on the right side near the bank (looking toward the dam from the bridge). Last time I was up there I caught a bunch of fish just around the first bend going upstream.
  7. You guys actually had the tournament. And I missed it. Tell cal that pink fishin pole is real perty. lol. See you guys soon.
  8. Gotcha I usually just use catch-all terminology when i catch those fish...bluegill, sunfish, perch, etc... whatever. you gotta admit that's a big one though.
  9. I floated the Little Sugar on Tuesday morning. Put in at Gordon Hollow, the level at Pineville was around 4.8. Water was moving fast, slightly stained but clearing up. I was worried the fishing would be slow, but Russ and his crew at Hog Heaven put us on the fish. Between two of us we caught 20 smallies, a couple of goggle eye, and a giant bluegill. It was the biggest gill I've ever caught or seen in person (I'll post a pic later). I caught most fish on green or brown tubes drifting/twitching them in the current. A little more than halfway through the float we got caught underneath a toad soaker, had to take out and hide under some bluffs alongside a dirt road. The guys at Hog Heaven came through and picked us up before we got washed down river. There we're two spots below the low-water bridge where you had to portage due to strainers. Thanks to Russ and the guys, had a great two-day vacation. Now back to the real world.
  10. Thanks man, I'll definitely have to try the gitzits out on a trip later this summer. Looks like the waters going to be up a little bit so I've broke out my crankbaits. Going with the Rebel craw and the Bomber Fat A minnow...
  11. The river is really dropping fast. Fast than I expected. Eyeballin' it, it looks like by Tuesday it should in the 250-350 cfs range. Nothing to do really but wait and hope for warm and sunny weather. I've never floated this creek. Any suggestion on tackle? My go to bait for the clear streams is usually a flippin jig with a crawdad trailer, light brown/creek gravel in color. I also like using crankbaits, minnows or craws. I've heard gitzit tubes do good, haven't fished them much though. Any tips on color or how to fish them (bump the bottom/fast retrieve)?
  12. Man, you were really moving. Powell to Crag O Lee is almost 16 miles. We're going to be fishing most of the time, so this should slow us down quite a bit more than you. Just hope they're gonna be biting.
  13. right on. I'm hoping it gets below 5 by Tuesday mid-morning. Preferably closer to 4. How was it from Mike's creek to cyclone @ 4.5? Fast run? I'm guessing fishing was pretty hit n miss. As of right know I'm thinking Powell to Cyclone day 1, then Cyclone to Crag o Lee day 2.
  14. Me and a couple of friends were planning on coming down to hog heaven Tuesday and doing an overnighter. The USGS gauges are saying that the creek is at record levels. I know that this weekend and Monday are supposed to be sunny and warm, any chance in hell that it gets down to floatable levels before Tuesday morning? Sucks cause it's hard for us all to get off for a weekday float then mother nature really jammed us this time.
  15. My cousin's neighbor knows a guy that might be coming up next Tuesday and Wednesday to fish either Indian Creek or Big Sugar. If the water is back down by then... (do y'all think it will be?) Anyways, whats the best lures to bring? gitzits? Roostertails? Swimmin' Minnow?
  16. Started at Iron Bridge early this morning, then moved up to Taylor, then on to 215 bridge. I caught one small male at Taylor, other than that no luck. Using Rooster tails and swimming minnows.
  17. All this snow and ice isn't going to help any.
  18. This cold snap is slowing the Whites down. Dammit, I'm chompin at the bit to get out there.
  19. LOL
  20. I've caught many keepers from the Finley, didn't keep them, but they were big enough. One good spot is down at Linden--go all the way to the end of the dirt road then wade down river about 50 yards. caught some good 15" brownies there.
  21. Have you guys had any luck at that spot just above the park where the river starts to open up and there's all of those lily pads? I haven't been up there in a couple summers but I used to slay 'em right there (jerking a hula grub like a frog). My parents had a place at Linden and my cousin and I would float from there to the park all the time. There were always a bunch of logjams but the fishing was good.
  22. I used to wade up swan creek by chadwick, it was great fishing. But some land changed hands and the new owners put up a barbed-wire fence across the creek! It sucks.
  23. I bought a spinnerbait a couple weeks ago at a little country bait shop on my way to the upper Finley, I caught a bunch of bass with it. I just looked up H&H because your post--and that's exactly what i was using!
  24. Good ole Campbell Farm. I spent a lot of time down there as a kid. I believe it's where I caught my first brownie, and drank my first beer too.
