Hey tippet I went out about 8pm. I did ok caught a couple nice rainbows. I just wrapped it up. Feeling eerie on my own.

More than likely im gonna wade close to outlet 2 or rebar depending on the water. I drive a white jeep wrangler. I went out today to somewhat get my bearings on it, trying to figure out where the deeper holes are and to gauge how far out it is, hence the reason im a little nervous about it. I should break down and just buy a boat haha

Its an adventure thats for sure. I enjoy the random adventure though. Saw plenty of snakes at Squaw. I agree there has to be some great carp fly fishing on the rivers around here,the Missouri is aweful muddy and pretty tough to sight fish unless you find some of those back water areas that are somewhat shallow, I've learned to keep the rubber boots in the Jeep lol. I'm always toying with the idea of the Kansas River or just venturing out to Lawrence and trying the outlets on the lower side of the dams at Perry and Clinton lake. I haven't tried either one yet so it just adds to the adventure. I also hear that Wakaursua is full of carp... You up for catching up sometime and headed out? Be nice to find a fellow fly fisher into "trash on the fly"

Got up at 0700 and drove to Squaw Creek only to find that they had pretty much drained most of it out. Not a fish one to be found or seen. Most of the pools were dried with the exception of a few puddles, even the canals were pretty well empty. No big deal I tell myself. I'll just drive down to Browning Lake in st joe because I have fished it before and did fairly well. Well I get there and find the access has been turned into a construction yard....no good access...So 2 hours of driving one way and 2 1/2 tanks of gas and not even a shot to wet the line.... I heard a rumor of an area around 435 and Front street, some back water from the missouri that holds carp...Drove all over the area with no luck...then its off to Blue springs lake and lake jacomo to check out the spill way areas...big fat nothing..... therefore a very long day with nothing caught..not even a wet line....

I went up last year and did pretty well and loved it! I'm gonna head up tomorrow if anyone is interested. I'm leaving from South KC around 7amish. I just wasnt sure if there was still water around there or not.

anyone fished it lately? Debating heading up tuesday May 24...itching to get out and after some carp/gar. Brad

I put my Kayak in at the dam, fished and floated down to the landing area. I have kayaked it a few times ranging from no generation, to 4 units ruuning with no problems as long as you are paying attention to whats going on. I fly fish from my yak and have no troubles fishing and floating. You can even paddle back upstream with 2 units running as long as you tuck in close to the bank and prepare to work your butt off. brad

Alright I'm throwing this out there because I'm not 100% sure how to handle this situation that occured today. I was wade fishing today on Upper Tanneycomo,I had been in the same spot for about 3 hours or so through the rain and all. Well about the time I start really catching some fish and the rain quit I'm suddenly crowded by three older gentlemen and I do mean crowed, two of them crammed right in on the left of me and the third to the right of me, close enough they kept tangling thereselves along with me. I ended up just leaving as I couldn't take it anymore. What's the best way to handle this? I found it quite rude and irrating as did the other gentlemen who was fishing across from me. Is it best to say something or just leave? I understand that when they are running water there are limited places to wade, but is it really right to just crowd in like that? Thanks, Brad

I haven't fished Hillsdale yet but I here there are some good sized carp in good number out there, and I'm wanting to give my kayak and the fly rod a try. I took two smaller carp on Melvern Saturday morning.

Anyone willing to give up the location of the place I always hear rumor of at Hillsdale lake KS with all the carp? I wanna get out there with my Kayak and flyrod and get into some carp! Brad

I drive a 1998 Jeep Wrangler with the Straight six and auto, hard top / full doors. 32"x11.50 tires, throttle body spacer, cold air intake and a Hedman Headder. It doesn't run through the oil, doesn't leak fluids and runs like a champ at 92,000 miles. I manage to get all my fly rods and gear inside, I leave the back seat out and most of the summer I have no top or doors on. I have had it in some pretty deep mud and some pretty tight places and it just pulls it's self right along. I also love the amount of things you can do to the Jeep. After all it stands for Just Empty Every Pocket. I also have a rack I use with the top off to haul my Kayak. Avoid the jeeps with square headlights, I believe 91-95, there where no 96 jeep wranglers as the 97 was released midway through 96 with the redesigned round (real jeep) headlights. Also avoid the 4 banger. If your looking for an increase in towing capacity look into the Wrangler Unlimited I believe you can tow a little more with it. My 98 is rated at 2000lbs. With most sit on top styles you can get scupper plugs and create a pretty dry ride, The OK Trident 13 has a scupper hole designed for the mounting of a humminbird fishfinder.

I fish from on Ocean Kayak Trident 13. I really love it. I haven't used and messed with the Ascend brand yet although the price wasn't bad. Drop by Missouri Kayak Anglers Theres a few pics of my Trident 13 over there.

Anyone got a good carp / gar spot near Branson. Seems as if they will be running water all weekend at Table Rock Dam so its time to break out the 8wt and get on some carp. I went to Swan Creek and saw a few. Just had a hard time casting to them as the water was coming up and didnt have a good angle on them. Thanks for you help Brad

Being as it looks like they will be generating water all weekend, I'm looking to changing up my fly fishing tactics. Anyone know of a good place to get into some Carp or even some gar in the branson area, Preferably without a boat. I checked swan creek today, got into a few but then water started coming up and I was in a pretty bad spot to be able to cast well to them. thanks Brad

Well tomorrow will be my first time giving Upper Taneycomo a try with fly. I plan on getting down there between 7 and 8. I'm use to fishing from my kayak so I'm going to be a little lost and due to a recent surgery I'm with out it for a week or two. Anyone interrested in getting together I'm in the area till Monday or Tuesday. I'm also planning to maybe attempt a little night fishing later in the weekend. Brad
