HA! I remember those days. 13 years ago we used to use Wheaties mixed with strawberry soda and canned corn... what a mess. Worked well though. We used to take a little two man plastic Tracker up by the Nature Center bridge on Springfield Lake and catch those nasty things. Great fight, but unsure about what we were going to do with them after they got to the boat!

Well, this is the second time heading out for crappie on Fellows as most of my adventures take me out for bass there. Unlike my first time out for crappie with my brother and not getting a single bite, this time was a bit different. If you know where or can find the brush piles the MDC has placed out in Fellows, that is your best bet. I have never searched for them, but using a map available online, I was able to find quite a few I wanted to try. Well the south end of the lake was white capping it was so windy, so I headed to the north and east end to try my luck. Headed today's trip.out late morning, started fishing at 10:30 and finally found a pile. Only took an hour and a half to limit out and head home. All of mine were 10+ inches except one that was nine. If the sun was out, no bite. But when the clouds rolled in, hang on to your minnow! I am a lot more confident on crappie fishing on Fellows after today. Anyone else fish much for crappie on Fellows? I see a lot of bass reports but not much for other species...
