  2. KCRIVERRAT,,, Thank you for the tips. I owe you some GOOD fishing tips. (I have found fishing tips are just like fish,,, they're easy to come by, it's the good ones that can be hard to find.)
  3. Thanks for the bump sir. I don't care what everyone says about you,,, your alright. LOL,,,,,, (wink)
  4. Is there any live bait shops near Pomme that sell minnows during the off season? I'm looking forward to doing a bit of crappy fishing during the winter but I'm having trouble finding any bait shops that sell minnows during the week around Pomme. If anyone can help me out, I'd sure appreciate it.
  5. A few years back I took my wife and a boat load of camping gear up the Gasconade river. We put in at Hazelgreen but before we got to the point where the Osage Fork drops into the Gasconade a VERY large fish slammed into the side of my boat. I got a real good look at the fish and there is no doubt in my mind it was a spoonbill. Has anyone else seen / caught a spoonbill that far up the Gasconade? From what I understand about spoonbill and the way they feed, I don't think this is a good thing for the health of the river. Do you ?
  6. Thank you sir. I didn't know you were a member here. I'd be willing to bet we have a few more mutual friends here too. After all, this is a honey hole for fishing info.
  7. Monday, Aug 24, 2009 - Microscopic zebra mussel larvae turned up in samples of water taken by workers with Missouri Department of Conservation at Pomme de Terre lake in June. It will take approximately six weeks to analyze the remaining samples and determine whether other Missouri reservoirs are infested. Because Pomme de Terre Lake is upstream from Truman Reservoir, discovery of zebra mussel velligers in the larger reservoir is almost certain. In the past, the pests have also have turned up in Lake Taneycomo, Bull Shoals Lake and in the Osage River below Bagnell Dam. Full story here - http://ozarksfirst.com/content/fulltext/?cid=178801 ======================================================== Seams it's only a matter of time before we will be reading about all the damage the Zebra mussels are doing at the LOZ. I understand what kind of damage they do, but, I have to wonder, with the amount of bacteria and waist water that is in the lake right now, couldn't they at least help filter the water? I don't think the Zebra mussel is the answer to the water pollution problems but if something isn't done soon our Ozark lakes could be nothing more than big cesspools our children and grandchildren will have to clean up. Do you think the Zebra mussel (they are coming, it's just a matter of time) will help with the quality of water ?
  8. I have 2 questions ,,, hows the fish biting and what bait do I need to use? Just kidding I've been reading this forum for some time. I like being a part of a good thing and I believe this just that ,, a good thing. Just a quick background review, I am a musician, I teach drums. Over 25 years stage experience. I am a Master Mason. Richland lodge, past secretary, past treasurer. I spent all my summers growing up on the Big Piney River, one mile above Devils Elbow. I am concerned about the water quality in the Ozarks lakes and rivers. Oh ya, I'm a fisherman too. I know we can discuss local issues with tact and mutual respect. I'm looking forward to it.
