  1. Really? I thought a Roaring River Special was as follows: 1 cooked biscuit 1/2 cup Vienna Sausage Gravy 1 scrambled egg 2 oz vodka 12 oz can of beer Put above in a blender and blend on high for 30 seconds. Pour into a coffee thermos and drink through a straw.
  2. What about Aux Arc? That's the true spelling of Ozark... From the Arkansas History Commission website: "How did Arkansas get its name? From the Quapaw Indians, who were called Akansea by certain other tribes. The name means "South Wind." Why is the name Arkansas pronounced and spelled as it is? The spelling comes from early French usage and the precedent set by the Arkansas Gazette. The pronunciation was determined by the General Assembly of 1881 after scholarly investigation."
  3. Hey Ronnie... just make the check out to me for $500 and I'll take care of the rest... There are? Where? Just kiddin'... Speaking of which... Are any of you guys tying at Sowbug?
  4. Wow, Tim... MDC celebrates your birthday by opening trout season in the parks! KEWL! You must be a special guy to them... Happy Birthday (a little late) and I know you spent it dragging in those big honkin' trout you and Leonard have tied up in the waters of RR...
  5. A very little known canoe trip is Myatt Creek from Moko, AR to the Spring River. Not much in the way of camping along that creek, but it has very VERY little canoe or fishing pressure and is a hidden jewel for smallies, goggle eye, and LMbass (creek size.) You can also do the Southfork (of the Spring) around Saddle (Cripple Caddis' and Fox Statler's back yard) which has more camping and is a nice float. The canoe traffic is not that bad most of the time.
  6. I resemble that remark myself... Welcome to the forum. You'll find that many of us... well... OK... at least ONE of us join the rank of "sucky fly tier." But as long as I catch fish, I'll keep on tying sucky flies...
  7. MsMidge... Not to worry Your secret is still safe with JT, me, and the first 4 or 500 people we run into...
  8. Steve, Keep the Knob Creek and pass the Crown Royal! Them there Cannucks shore knows how to make good whoooskey! My wife makes sure Crown is on the grocery list... I LOVE my "Little Whiskey Girl!" "She ain't into wine and roses Beer just makes her turn up her nose And, she can't stand the thought of sippin' champagne No Cuervo Gold Margaritas Just ain't enough good burn in tequila She needs somethin' with a little more edge and a little more pain She's my little whiskey Girl She's my little whiskey Girl My Ragged-on-the-edges girl Ah, but I like 'em rough"
  9. Well, David... if it doesn't (and chances are it won't) some nice guy in a Dodge might just pick you up and take you the rest of the way... Be sure when he stops you say "That thang gotta Hemi?"
  10. Yes sir... for sure... Unconfirmed reports of others missing in the area, too. Cindy has relatives in the area. Caulfield is not too far north of where she was raised - Viola, AR.
  11. There ought to be plenty of guys around Moreland who would be more than happy to help you rid the area of hogs... Find some of those Teague boys... or the Heltons from around Hector. Hell, they've probably helped you without you knowing it already if they know they're there....
  12. You mean my long lost rich cousin Albert did not really die in a tragic automobile accident in Kenya? Dang.... And I was gonna buy every OAF member a brand new rod and reel of their choice fully loaded with line and backing and then we were all going to jump on a chartered jet to New Zealand for a week of fishing... Oh well... It's the thought that counts... Right? You would be amazed at the ways the crooks are trying to get to your money over the net. It's wild and getting WILDER by the minute. As Sergeant Phil Esterhaus (Micheal Conrad - Hill Street Blues) would say: "Hey, let's be careful out there!"
  13. Belated birthday greetings Mr Hunt... Hope you spent at least part of it with a bent fly rod in your hand... listening to a screaming reel...
  14. A trip to Flippin to cast Dorber rods is well worth the effort...
  15. Hey Doug... Pick up the phone! Where are these hogs? I may know some guys who'll take 'em out for you... They are a HOOT to hunt! And Don is right... the meat is WAY good! Emeril would slap his momma for some good wild pig loin...
  16. Why, Don (aka Deney Terrio) you ol' disco dancin' fool, you... I've not fished my disco buggers yet, but they do look "wicked kewl!" "Well, you can tell by the way I use my walk, I'm a woman's man: no time to talk. Music loud and women warm, I've been kicked around Since I was born. And now it's all right. it's ok. And you may look the other way. We can try to understand The new york times effect on man. Whether you're a brother or whether you're a mother, Your'e stayin' alive, stayin' alive. Feel the city breakin' and everybody shakin', And we're stayin' alive, stayin' alive. Ah, ha, ha, ha, stayin' alive, stayin' alive. Ah, ha, ha, ha, stayin' alive."
  17. Happy Birthday, Tim... Catch some bigguns and post pictures of them so we can all be envious who didn't brave the chaos...
  18. OK... I'm next! Uuuhhhh.... Well, you pretty much said it all, Mrs Ducky... Next?
  19. Sell the grill and buy a DODGE PICKUP!... (You there, David?) For true smoking, I'd buy the weber... But you can make some fine grilled trout on a gas grill.
  20. DODGE Baby... ALL THE WAY!!!
  21. Yes... you've found me out... Among other things I've developed: Transparent aluminum Dilithium crystals Flux capacitor And of course back in the 60's, I developed a weather changing machine which was in essence a sophisticated heat beam which I called a "la-ser."
  22. (Told ya it would be a good history lesson...) Thanks guys... Makes more sense now. By the way... Speaking of taper vs. weight etc. There is a good Q&A section on taper and weight in the new issue of Fly Rod & Reel... Interesting...
  23. I hope SHE didn't hear you say that... As I understand it, this was an "emergency order" by Gov. Mike Beebe, so the judge has little to do with this. Since it is in the middle of a lawsuit, the judge could issue an injunction or order of some sort to do something, but there might be some criteria that has to be followed in order to do that... I'm not sure... Maybe someone in that arena can tell us?
  24. I'm not sure of any fly shops close to Gore, but you have a few guys on here who have fly shops who would be more than happy to help you select the right rod for you.
  25. JB, I totally agree with you. I'm not advocating watching the patient die while arguing over the cause of the wound. It's just disgusting that a blatant ignorance of a regulation results in taxpayer dollars having to be spent. And I'm afraid before the time comes to pay the piper, there will be nothing left to pay him with. YR, Your friends idea has some merit, but I'm afraid if that happened every time, we would soon live in the United Sates of Boy Scouts... And as long as this is tied up in court, there's nothing that can be done. Except.... Can this property be legally sold as it stands right now? I don't think there is any kind of court order or injunction preventing sale, right?
