  1. Aren't the Olympics in China next year? Could be, GF... Could be...
  2. And you wonder why those old men sit around the boat launches just watchin' people launch boats... It's cheap entertainment!!! OH... and speaking from the voice of experience of launching alone with nobody within a few miles... be sure you have a rope tied to something on the bank before launching and pulling your truck and tailer out and parking... Boats are just like dogs and kids... you keep calling them to come to you... but they just keep going the opposite way... (Sssshhhhh... Don't tell anyone I told you about doing that...)
  3. Jeremy, Did you post that on Wilson's forum? I bet someone over there has had experience with that...
  4. Click here for snopes take on the picture... It's pretty obvious that there are some camera tricks going on there... Always check snopes.com for this stuff...
  5. Works for me... If I haven't moved into a six-figure salaried job in the middle of great trout waters by then... HEY... it could happen...
  6. The dam area at Ozark, MO is your best bet. Hopefully someone from the forum can give you more direction on that... Welcome to the nut house....
  7. During the day, mild-mannered Leonard is a reporter for Ozark Anglers Forum... and DuckyDoty is a secret shopper for a well-known fishing equipment retailer.... But at night... they become... TANEY-NIGHT-MAN.... and his faithful sidekick... NETBOY!!!! We join the daring duo in the middle of Lake Taneycomo at midnight: "HOLY EIGHT-WEIGHT TANEY-NIGHT-MAN! LOOK AT THE SIZE OF THAT TROUT!!" "Yes, Netboy. He is obviously a 24 inch Rainbow. Good thing I tied on my Taneycomo Night Special. Get the net." Suddenly, there is a voice from the darkness of the edge of the water above the Gauntlet: "I'm eating chili dogs, Taney-Night-Man... and soon the foul gas from my intestinal tract will leave all those trout with NO APPETITE for your TNS!" "HOLY METHANE, TANEY-NIGHT-MAN! IT'S.... IT'S... IT'S MR.DUCKY!!!" "Yes, Netboy. It is our arch rival... MrDucky. But I have just the thing... My Taney-Night-Gas-Mask... AND I have another 20 plus inch fish on. Get the net." Will MrDucky's chili-dog ladden methane gas spell the end of this night's fishing? Will Taney-Night-Man ever catch a dink? Will Netboy EVER get to land a fish? Here is a scene from the next show: "TAKE THIS, TANEY-NIGHT-MAN!!!" "HOLY STINK BOMB, TANEY-NIGHT-MAN! MR.DUCKY JUST LET ANOTHER ONE!!!" "Yes, I know. It is a foul smelling odor for sure. And it seems to have melted the Taney-Night-Gas-Mask material... (grunt) There's another big trout. Get the net." Tune in again next time.... Same Taney time.... Same Taney station...
  8. Leonard and Duckydoty see that with trout every night on Taney... They must have been using Leonard's trout whistle... I've seen similar video, but never thought of bow hunting for carp on the wing...
  9. I forgot to mention a couple of strange things that happened... While I was standing in the middle of the stream just down a bit from Outlet 1, a guide brought a client up to do some fishing with an indicator. They stood out a bit from Outlet 1 and fished for about half hour or so. During that time, he (the client) took a few fish and missed a bunch. I watched (they were about 40-50 feet from me) as he hooked a nice one, but broke off. At that point, they decided to go somewhere else or were through for the day... A few minutes after they left, I noticed the indicator drifting in front of me and thought it was odd that it took it this long to get to me... Then, the indicator made a 180 and started drifting upstream... It was then that I noticed the trout still attached to the indicator... ... He must have been looking for some help, because he seemed to come almost straight for me. I wrapped the line below the indicator around my rod tip in an attempt to pull him in and free him. The fly did come loose (come to find out it was a yellow micro-jig) and I pocketed it and the indicator... The other oddity was releasing a nice fish and noticing half his lower lip was missing... I had hooked him in the corner of the mouth on the opposite side and it was a bit tough getting the hook out, but when I did, I noticed the odd look on the other side and his lower lip had been broken off on one side... Anyone ever see this and do the fish survive? Don't know how long he had been like this, but he was certainly healthy enough yesterday to put up a good fight on my 4 wt...
  10. GF, You are not alone in thinking that, but the MinFlo issue is hard to explain. However, the one issue that most people (including you) MIS-understand is that the water level will be a constant five feet above "normal"... This is not the case. The MinFlo level will add five feet at Bull Shoals, but does not mean the lake will constantly be five feet higher. As Ken stated, the AVERAGE will be 1-2 feet above "normal" levels. The five feet is the RESERVE amount for MinFlo... just like the reserve levels for power generation. The way I understand it, this will actually mean higher levels during the summer when the lake is normally very very low (in "drought" conditions) and allow a minimum flow into the tailwaters. It is SUPPOSE to help maintain a healthier stream in the tailwaters for trout - lower water temps and higher dissolved oxygen. As a trout fisherman, I am all for maintaining a healthy stream for trout. I just am not convinced MinFlo is the way to attain that. A better system, in my opinion, would be aerators at the base of the dam on the tailwater side to increase the DO. As for water temps, maybe a smaller amount of MinFlo would help. One thing is for sure... MinFlo will not get rid of the pollution and "junk" in the water in the lakes or the tailwaters. And that effects BOTH sides of the dams... And before many of you throw stones, there are about as many trout fishermen AGAINST MinFlo as there are for it...
  11. Welcome to the forum...
  12. I resemble that remark... Welcome to the forum... And beware of GF... he'll lead you right into the clutches of the Giant Man-Eating Taneycomo Killer Squid...
  13. Is there an echo in here... here... here...here....? (couldn't resist, KA... ) Kind of a shame there is not camping, but Ken is right... Your best bet is TRL above the dam...
  14. Peanut butter, chips, and beer... Breakfast of champions!!!!
  15. Bill.... Question... Do you then tie any tippet to the 6x Vanish or is that your tippet?
  16. Greg, Dave is a great guy... I'd say Emily is a great "guy" but... well... she's a great lady... I met them a couple years ago and he is just like you see on TV and just like you read in his books and articles... But then again, Conclave seems to be FULL of Dave's and Emily's... or at least close to them...
  17. Careful... no pictures... so some individuals will not believe you caught anything... Hey Ducky... You should have come back up to Outlet 1 this mornin'... I would show you how to catch 'em in the daytime... I gotta charge up the batteries in my flashlight... And get my 8 wt ready...
  18. Yeah, but none of them are in Branson... My wife is the same. I think it just shows how secure they are in our relationships... and that's a good thing. My wife has nothing to worry about... Unless Cindy Garrison takes me fishin'....
  19. Got to the water about 8:30 after a bit of breakfast at the Gateway Cafe in Spokane (good breakfast there...) The parking lot was full as I anticipated but no units running. I rigged up my 4 wt and headed down to Outlet 1. They were lined up from the cable to rebar... But I did notice the spot that has my name etched in one of the rocks was open across the way. I finally found a hole and crossed to the south side casting an olive leech pattern. Hooked up pretty quickly and landed a nice 'Bow. Switched a couple of times, but the leech, pine squirrel sculpin (duh), and the TNS were doing the trick. All in all, landed 12 nice 'Bows - nothing under 15 with one 17 incher. Hooked up with about half a dozen more including one nice one that broke my tippet. Missed quite a few takes, but they were not nailing it... just playing with it. I would have caught more, but Leonard called and made me miss about half a dozen... I know better than to answer my phone...
  20. Ken... remember... you're a married man...
  21. Replace the cameras with automatic weapons and if they drive off without paying, open fire!!!
  22. Alien implants? Effects of horse manure? Results of a freak swimming accident? Global warming? Republican? Democrat? Not sure, but still a nice fish... As for the wasp sting... take it like a man and don't move!!!... Just kiddin'... And if he fought like you said, the 1 lb.er deserved a moment in the spotlight!! Nice report and pictures..... and PHEESH!!
  23. It has to do with the Minimum Flow proposal. This would add "up to" 5 feet of water in Bull Shoals... It is not a simple "5 feet higher" but will be an allocations... Hard to explain but read here: Click here for Minimum Flow information... I'm really on the fence on MinFlo but my understanding is that it has been accepted and will be tried on the tailwaters of BSD to see what impact it will have. I don't think you'll see a big difference on the lake side of the dam. Just the same water levels only at different times...
  24. Well, it's Missouri, but I think Med-E-Vac in West Plains may need some new administrators... (In case you didn't know, the FBI raided their offices a week or so ago...) Cindy's best friend is an EMT down in Batesville. I'll tell Cindy to tell her if she hears of anything let me know...
