  1. Can we donate to your school? I guess it doesn't matter because with the new tax code, I can't deduct anything anymore. Message me your information. Jim
  2. Thanks Terry! I'm really happy with the one I use regularly.
  3. For sale, one Lamson Konic 2.0 reel, for 5 and 6 wt Fly Rods, new and still in the box, never used at all. SOLD! See the specs at www.waterworks-lamson.com/konic.html, list price: $129. This reel is great and I use one on my 9' 5wt rod. As you may know, the drag system is the same as used on Lamson's more expensive reels. The box includes the normal cloth reel bag and a blank warranty card. Asking Price: $100 + $4 for insured shipping in the continental US. SOLD! Payment by money order or personal check (if you don't mind waiting for it to clear). Send me a message if interested. Thanks!

  6. Late to this discussion, but I agree strongly with the last post. I have a Pentax K10D and use it with old, manual K-mount Pentax lenses as well as newer ones. It's expensive to replace a full set of lenses, and the new ones don't always match up well to older glass unless you spend a lot (or even if you do). Of course, it is faster to shoot with a brand new, fully auto lens, but Pentax put image stabilization in the camera body, so it can be used with any Pentax or Pentax-compatible lens of any vintage. Best wishes.
  7. Good call! I had this problem with a new reel and was having trouble figuring it out until I read your comment. Thanks!
  8. Just joined. I appreciate the helpful comments I've already received regarding some questions I asked about gear that was for sale. I've been fly fishing twice, so far. I did a lot of spin casting without knowing much about it over the years, including as a kid in Arizona, and have fished in salt water off Long Island, Boston and Maine. I have caught a relatively small number of fairly small fish in my time. I've lived in Missouri since 1985, but lived all over before that. I used to like traveling but now am content not to go very far, most of the time. I'm borrowing fly fishing gear at the moment and have enjoyed the recent fishing trips around Steelville. I seem to have developed a Zen version of catch and release- I just skip the catching phase... though I do slip up now and then and land something. I look forward to learning from the group. Best wishes, Jim
