Members alletec Posted February 27, 2008 Members Posted February 27, 2008 My lady friend used to run her Skeeter on Toledo Bend.Every time I take her to Taney, she wants to explore down the lake...but I will admit, when the water gets wide & deep...I'M LOST With the help of your posts,Trav, maybe I'll work up the nerve to go down lake. It is not hard to find bass in this lake in the summer. Just look for classic structure any where around Bull Creek, Rockaway Beach, to the powersite. The large mouth are everywhere. I like fishing for bass in summer because the trout can be tough some times in the summer. Tanny is so small vs. Lake of The Ozarks. It is easy to find fish and have a good day catching bass. Bman Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 I usually fish Taney every year by my boat in April/May.This year I will have to explore down lake! Thanks guys.Maybe I will see fewer boats down lake? Trav, btw I voted Branson...I do digress The only good line is a tight line
Trav Posted February 27, 2008 Author Posted February 27, 2008 Bman, I have asked a few old time locals, so I got close to 600 years of in-my-face opinions and experiance, and they all said that Branson was the middle ground. As far as a actual line they all agreed either roark or bee creek. Alot of them look at the lower as out of town. And they all agreed that the entire upper lake, including the Dam might as well be inside city limits. So are the old natives wrong? Is it that simple? Upper is in town and lower is out of town? soggyfeet Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 Anything below Point Royale is lower Tany. They need to put a wire there to stop all boats. Now what are we going to do with that pesky ramp where the boats fall in? I got it a couple well place ditches accross the rap access might do the trick. LOL JK Brian
Trav Posted February 29, 2008 Author Posted February 29, 2008 How about a big net? Haha "May success follow your every cast." - Trav P. Johnson
MOBass Posted March 1, 2008 Posted March 1, 2008 I draw the line at Branson. I don't know if the lake changes or just my mindset about how I should be fishing and what I should be fishing for.
Trav Posted March 2, 2008 Author Posted March 2, 2008 Thats why Phil split the lake up. There is no doubt that the upper and the lower fishes like two seperate bodys of water. Requiring different approaches and different tactics. They even react to weather and generation differently. Its where the line is that differs from one angler to another. As I stated, I feel that Roark is the line but it is just the line I wont cross due to personal likes and dislikes. Truth be known, Barrier cove is where I normally stop/start. It feels like from there to Roark is a bit of a grey area to me. Thats where I get that "change of mindset" feeling that MoBass mentions when he is headed through Branson. The deep 30 foot holes cant be found anymore but it is still a viable Bass fishery. The water still fishes like the lower, looks like the lower, but you can start to notice that the super chilled water will be more prevailant across the entire width of the water and not so concentrated to a channel. This Topic is really of no debate for who are any of us to draw lines. But I do find it interesting to hear what everyone has to say on it. I think that the majority of this poll so far shows that to most the people who like to fish the upper will stop when they start to see Branson and the ones that like to fish the lower will stop when they start to see Branson. That we all can agree on. Just where in Branson, is open to individual comfort levels. Those that like to fish both will normally adapt by changing what they fish for, and/or how they fish. Lets keep the polling going. It would be interesting to see the results with a couple hundred votes. "May success follow your every cast." - Trav P. Johnson
Bman Posted March 5, 2008 Posted March 5, 2008 Where are some maps of all the points in the survey, and others mentioned.I have checked the upper Taney maps section of this site with no success. The only good line is a tight line
Trav Posted March 5, 2008 Author Posted March 5, 2008 Bman, Maybe it is just me, but I dont quite understand your question. "May success follow your every cast." - Trav P. Johnson
