Trav Posted February 28, 2008 Posted February 28, 2008 Went up bull and the water was perfect. So, I stayed. I used one lure all afternoon. A rebel humpback shallow diver. Caught 17 sport bass and 2 others that hit the digital at 2-10 and 3-4. I was all over the creek. Found them everywhere. A few here, a couple there. Close to the bank, out on the flats. Didnt seem to matter. "May success follow your every cast." - Trav P. Johnson
MOBass Posted February 28, 2008 Posted February 28, 2008 I have not had a bit of luck fishing Bull creek. Do you have any words of wisdom for me? I haven't went to far into Bull because the mouth seems very shallow (2' or less). Am I missing a channel or is it just skinny water? I'll take any advice you care to offer.
Trav Posted February 29, 2008 Author Posted February 29, 2008 Bull averages 4 to 8 feet in the center until you get back close to the Island. Then you get 15 to 24 feet of water. I catch the majority of my bull creek bass on the flats. Right in the middle of the creek, you will see some timber in the water. It is 3 to 4 foot deep from there to the back shoreline. I work that edge where it drops from 4 to 8 feet. All the bass in that area will be cruisers. Wich means they are on the hunt and by no means in a staging mode. They wont be hard to catch if they are there. So dont waste alot of time. If you cant find them in a half hour or so, That means you will have to try to find them along the shore or under docks. Dont let the shallow water fool you. You cant ever forget that it is a cold water lake and the shallow water is the only place to get warm. Especially this time of year. And the sunnier the better. MOBass Posted February 29, 2008 Posted February 29, 2008 I appreciate the info. I'll be down in a couple of weeks to get the boat wet and see if I still know how to fish.
