Members mathman Posted February 28, 2008 Members Posted February 28, 2008 Just returned from my first time fishing Crane Creek. I've been there several times, but was always doing water quality monitoring or liter pick-up. I went to the conservation area below town and went downstream from the dairy farm. The first two patterns that I tried went for naught, finally put on a birds nest nymph. The first hit shocked me; the rod felt like it was going to be pilled from my hand. Unfortunately, I never saw what hit. At least I was excited now. Two more hits from the same run left me with no fish. Really, I usually do better than that. Moved up stream and on the was just about ready to pack it in when I caught my first McCloud. Very small, but very pretty. The first one I saw out of the water and not in a photograph. I will be back to fish Crane again. The water this time was high and fast. I didn't run into anyone else on the stream; but even though our club picked up liter earlier this month, there was still an over abundance of it. the mathman "The constitution only gives people the right to pursue happiness.
