Members flyfishinggolfer Posted March 2, 2008 Members Posted March 2, 2008 My friends and I are coming down for our annual March Madness flyfishing trip March 7-9th. What flies should I start tying that will work for next weekend? Notwithstanding water generation are there any specific times of the day when I should look for a certain hatch? Last year, we struggled quite a bit. Since then, I have found this forum. Any help is welcome. Fly
soggyfeet Posted March 2, 2008 Posted March 2, 2008 size 18-20 black with silver ribbing zebra midges, red with black or silver ribbbing, maraboo jigs size 1/100 peach, bubble gum, and yellow, scuds olive, cream, buggers in olive and black, and san whan worms in red or brown have always been good producers for me during the day. Night is a little different (well its a lot different) bigger flies and heavier line. Brian
Danoinark Posted March 2, 2008 Posted March 2, 2008 In addition to soggy's suggestions you might be lucky to see a few caddis coming off. I would also have a few elk hair caddis and some holographic green cracklebacks just in case there is a top water bite. Probably size 16 in both. Don't forget a few olive soft hackles too. Dano Thanks to you and Soggy Feet. I have been tying the suggestions made by both of you. Fly
