Trav Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 The government is flooding the Grand Canyon in hopes that they can rebuild sandbars that have over the years eroded away. Is it as simple as they put it on the news? I bet Mr. Agnew might have a thought or two on this topic. "May success follow your every cast." - Trav P. Johnson
Chief Grey Bear Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 I thought I first heard about this happening a few years ago. taxidermist Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 This is the thrid time I can remember the flush. seems like 1996 and maybe 2000? Just wonder what it will do to the fish, thats a lot of water. It probabley something that shoyld be done at every dam once in awhile.
KATroutman13 Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 It has worked in the past, no reason to think it would not work this time. They did this in 1996 and 2004.
Trav Posted March 8, 2008 Author Posted March 8, 2008 I wasnt aware they had done it before. Just a little something I saw on the news "May success follow your every cast." - Trav P. Johnson
Daddy Carp Posted March 24, 2008 Posted March 24, 2008 Keep your eyes open boys! I think Taney is getting a pretty good "flush" right now. As fast as the water was moving at Beaver Creek on Bull Shoals Thursday and as high as it was, it may be getting a good flush too. They were talking that it may rise another 11' before it tapers off. As fast as that water was moving, we'll probably have to go to Theodosia and get our fish back!
Trav Posted March 24, 2008 Author Posted March 24, 2008 no doubt DC, Can I carpool with you to get our fish back? Haha "May success follow your every cast." - Trav P. Johnson
Daddy Carp Posted March 26, 2008 Posted March 26, 2008 Hey Trav, Here are some pics I took last Thurs. from the road above the boat-launch parking lot at Beaver Creek Marina. The Marina was about 100 yds. out from shore!
Trav Posted March 28, 2008 Author Posted March 28, 2008 DC I hear its going to get worse. I guess they are clearing everything out of Shadow Rock Park in preparation. "May success follow your every cast." - Trav P. Johnson
Daddy Carp Posted March 28, 2008 Posted March 28, 2008 Last week when I was down at Beaver Creek Marina, the guy who runs it said they expected another 11' of rise. He lost his gas tank and was trying to tie off the docks and maintain. With all the septics, trash piles, fuel & chem. storages that have been wiped out, I think I would do "catch & throw-away" NOT "keep & eat" at this point in time.
