Trav Posted March 12, 2008 Posted March 12, 2008 Did a little jig fishing today in search of brownies. Four bows and zero brownies in 90 minutes so I gave up and decided to hit the shoreline for Bass. Caught 6 sports on tubes and 3 with chompers. "May success follow your every cast." - Trav P. Johnson
Members killarbb Posted March 12, 2008 Members Posted March 12, 2008 Trav, i am ne wto the sight(although i have been lurking for a while). i am curious, what do you mean by "sports" when talking about bass? my father and i are headed down on saturdy morning for a week of fishing. we normally end up fishing taney down in the Rockaway area the most. any suggestions? thanks Brett
Trav Posted March 13, 2008 Author Posted March 13, 2008 I call them sports, some call them dinks, other call them shorts. Just means small. The Rockaway area is a good place right now for bass. Try flipping the docks with spinner baits. They are holding tight with all the water being generated. "May success follow your every cast." - Trav P. Johnson
Daddy Carp Posted March 18, 2008 Posted March 18, 2008 Be sure to try up in Bull Creek (on the upriver side of Rockaway). Word is that not only bass are up there but also some good rainbows as well. Last week, there were several rainbows caught off the city dock that went from 3-6lbs. they were taken on powerbait.
Daddy Carp Posted March 20, 2008 Posted March 20, 2008 Here are some photos I took yesterday eve at Rockaway Beach dock & boat ramp. Water was over 3/4 of the parking area and walkway to the dock.
Trav Posted March 20, 2008 Author Posted March 20, 2008 DC I have the birds eye view of that. Did anyone loose about ten thousand pounds of lumber? I think its all backed up behind my dock! Feel free to come take it home with you. I think its going to take me a better part of a week to push it all out so take your time. Yuck! "May success follow your every cast." - Trav P. Johnson

Daddy Carp Posted March 20, 2008 Posted March 20, 2008 I don't think they've got a schedule yet but so far things seem to be moving along towards the "dredging event". There are about 50 million little "air-headed" bstrds. that have to bitch, complain and sign their name to any action that takes place any more. As far as the "tree huggers" I invite them down, there are several on the bottom and many floating towards Power Site to take the big trip over. They can hug them all they want til "death do them part". Sure miss the old days when you just take an old bed spring set and a tractor and clean the pond of grass, debris & cattails. Now you have to have 50 signature tags on the springs and 5 more on the tractor. LMAO ROTF
Daddy Carp Posted March 20, 2008 Posted March 20, 2008 OH YA, When I get word on when they are gonna start the dredge, I'll let you know. It might be you'll want to come over and see that.
Members killarbb Posted March 22, 2008 Members Posted March 22, 2008 well we were down and headed home early. 450 miles for 1 day of fishing.....and then we never caught any bass. we did get into some trout so it wasnt a complete loss. maybe things will be better in august when we come back down. side note, we did get to see just how bad everything can get with big ammounts of rain in short periods of time.
