Members J Fry Posted March 20, 2008 Members Posted March 20, 2008 Has anyone been by Fellows since we had all this rain? I was planning on trying it out on Saturday, didn't know how the water looked for crappie fishing.
RSBreth Posted March 20, 2008 Posted March 20, 2008 Yeah, if anyone knows how the water looks, I'd be interested, too. May be too busy to get the big boat out, and obviously the Finley or James are a little blown out.

I saw a few fishing from the jetty, and from the bank on the east side. Was wondering if anyone on the forum has fished Fellows when it was muddy, and what they were fishing with to catch crappie? I am determined to go, since I don't get to fish nearly as often as I would like. Thanks to all.

I talked to someone there at the lake, and he said it has been closed for sometime now. He was not sure why they are not open, or when they may open again. I was really disappointed since I don't own a boat. I tried fishing from the bank with some jigs under a bobber, no luck at all. The water is starting to clear up, and there were a few boats on the lake, not sure how they were doing. A few others were fishing from the bank. It was hard not snagging brush since the lake is so high. Anyone fish Fellows this weekend? What about McDaniel's?
Members brianbarker Posted March 24, 2008 Members Posted March 24, 2008 I was down at fellows last Sat. and tried some cranks looking for some bass and 2 guys fishing at the concrete ledge where the water runs under the highway were catching a few crappie but all I could get out of them was that they were againt the edges of the walls and down really deep. I think they were using minnows or jigs but no floats. Bite seemes really slow, atleast the time I was there. Members brianbarker Posted April 8, 2008 Members Posted April 8, 2008 Yesterday evening (7th) right at dark me and a friend were walking down the road where it crosses the earth dam and watch a very unskilled, holding his spinning reel upside down and reeling backwards since the antireverse was on, guy catch 5 crappie in propably 10 casts standing on the steps that lead to the concrete platform on the east side. The concrete is far underwater but he was on the last step just haulin' em in. He was throwing a chart/white sassy shad on a 1/8 ounce jighead, looked to be about 2 inches. I had 2 white ones we threw 3 times but didn't get a hit. Headed down there this evening if this rain breaks because they must be doing something. I'm sure they are still bunched up together though so if you can catch one you might do some good.
