Don Posted April 5, 2008 Posted April 5, 2008 I heard a brief statement on the radio that the sport of bass fishing generates more money for the economy than all other spectator sports combined? I was not sure if I heard the details correctly because it played by so fast but I started thinking about boat sales, Bass Pro, etc. Does anybody have any knowledge or data to support this statement? It actually makes sense to me. I know I have spent a few bucks in my youth but nothing like some of you gangbusters. Thanks, Don May Don May I caught you a delicious bass.
Chief Grey Bear Posted April 5, 2008 Posted April 5, 2008 That is quite a statement. When you combine ALL other SPORTS.... I mean you could even throw in High School and City league sports as they also contribute to the economy by selling consesions. When you sit down and think about it and you think all sports and not just on the Pro level......we has a coutry have a lot of sports going on. Then of course you have the whole gambling thing........ RSBreth Posted April 5, 2008 Posted April 5, 2008 Bass fishing does provide more money than all other spectator sport combined - for Kimberling City. Anywhere else, doubtful.
Don Posted April 8, 2008 Author Posted April 8, 2008 I need to call Jock 99 radio and ask someone what the exact quote was and where the data came from. I just think of how much revenue is generated by the Super Bowl alone. Don Don May I caught you a delicious bass.
soggyfeet Posted April 8, 2008 Posted April 8, 2008 I dont know about all sprots combined. But I know fishing in general gets more of my money than all other sports. Just with tags and gas alone and I dont even have a baot. Then you get the food, beer, lures, line weight, reels, rods, tying material, motels, camping suppiles, etc. You can make the list as long as you want. If the people doing the stats had generous limits then sure you can make it seem that way. Its like Terry said you tweek something enough you can get it to say anything. Just look at Lawyers Brian
