Hi folks,

I'd possibly like to hunt in MO for turkeys this spring for the first time. I've already wrapped up my KS season and would like to explore some other states. I would prefer to have someone to hunt with, but will go it alone if I have to. Can anyone here point me in a good direction for some public land areas to try? That is unless you are gracious enough to allow me to hunt private land, but that's your call.

Thanks!

Drury-Mincy Conservation Area near Branson is a good place to hunt longbeards. The two-section, 4,089 acre public area is located 5 miles east of Branson on Highway 76, then 6 miles south on Route J, and 3/4 mile on County Road J40. The D-M Area Manager's number is 417-334-4830.

The area has a lot of turkey and several places to setup at. It just depends how deep you want to walk. Branson, of course, is near and full of affordable motels/hotels and restaurants.

Maps (both topo and aerial) of this Drury-Mincy and other public hunting spots are listed on MDC's web site. Look for "online atlas" towards the bottom of the page to start the search.

Good hunting, be safe!
