OK guys what do you think now. Trade a team leader defensive linemen and draft a rookie defensive linemen instead on concentrateing on the O-line. I know this guy is suposed to be good but he wasnt suposed to be there when at the Chiefs turn. Fractured tibula scared everyone else off. I dont know about you guys but it is hard as a season ticket holder to put up with this stuff. I mean every yr its the same thing "it s a rebuilding yr" wether its a new coach or replaceing retired players that Carl the Hun ran off. I guess one one hand we can hopefully get excited about watching the defence again like in the mid 90's. Just too bad we got rid of the leagues best pass rusher.

Jeez - some people can never be satisfied :)

Today, KC had one of the best first-day drafts in recent history. Not only did they land the best player in the draft, but they still got the tackle that they wanted in Branden Albert (who some thought would go top 10). Then as icing on the cake they pick up a first-round quality defensive back that they desperately need to help out an aging Surtain.

Jared Allen is a force, but once you get Dorsey in plugging up the middle, Hali is going to be able to go crazy from the end.

As far as the O-Line, they're made on the second day of the draft. Just look at the players still out there - the Chiefs have plenty to choose from. They'll pick up Zuttah, Collins, or Nicks with their next pick, and maybe even one of them at the bottom of the 3rd. And after that, the still have 6 picks to play with.

I try not to get my hopes up, but I'm kind of excited.

I like to call them like I see them. I don't think the Chefs will have a great year because they are still in a rebuilding stage. However, I am optimistic about their first three draft picks. Each of those individuals have serious potential of being the best rookie at their positions. After the first three, I had the feeling the Chiefs were playing finders keepers, meaning that they starting drafting for the best available player remainng in the draft as opposed to drafting the best player according to their needs.

Its all about REBUILDING....Have to win at least 2 more games than last year or I really believe Peterson and possibly Edwards and most of the coaching staff will be on their way out. Have a lot of POTENTIAL, but of course, right now, thats all it is. D-Bowe showed great signs of being something special last year, tho I have a feeling he will be a bit down this year cuz it seemd most players dont do much their second season after going off their first season, and patience with Brodie people....How many games has he started, and without much on the offensive line?? Wont be much better on offensive line this year, but definitely wont be worse, because that, I believe, is not possible. I originally had a problem with getting rid of Jared Allen, but now not so much. Sure, he was great on the field but he definitely had problems with management and off the field obviously with his drinking and was wanting HUGE money, which talent wise he for sure deserved, but a team in rebuilding isnt gonna usually give a big contract to anyone besides a QB. Chiefs fans since about 1990 have mostly had it pretty good. Playoffs every season almost thru the 90's and besides this past season really havent been down right HORRIBLE, i think they had a 5 or 6 win year a handful of seasons ago but usually right there in the playoffs or in the hunt. I personally dont think Peterson is a bad GM, he'd have a ring or two if Marty could have done something in the playoffs with all that talent he was given, which in the regular season hes about the best. But one move Peterson did do that was way wrong was giving LJ all that money...There were rumors that if LJ got paid he was gonna be a problem and sure enough he seems to be one and besides you just dont give an RB lots of money unless his name is Barry Sanders or LaDanian Tomlinson or Emmitt Smith or, well, you get the picture. Running backs like Larry Johnson grow on trees. You or me could basically run for 1200 yards behind the line LJ had when he was going off....Just I think for the first time in a long, long time Chiefs fans just gotta sit back and watch their team take their lumps and HOPEFULLY in a couple few years they'll be right back there. Just patience, its rebuilding time.

The Chiefs have been rebuilding since 1993. When does it end? You do not hope to win with a name like Montana (end of career), Bono (end of career), Grbac (end of career), Allen (end of career), Andre Rison (sup felon!), Tamarick Vanover (hey crackhead). Honestly? How many years did they squeak into the playoffs with 10+ wins, when 3 of the wins each year were OT kickoff returns for touchdowns? Come on, be realistic. What talent was Marty given? Joe Montana (a 40 year old arm, running a 50 year old team), Marcus Allen (you know you suck when your best offensive weapon is a 40 year old running back), Steve Bono (don't get me started), Elvis Grbac (Oh Christ), Christian Okoye (Ok, he was good, but short lived), Barry Word, or whoever else they thought could play Band-Aid for a game or two. Honestly, Marty, has NEVER been a championship coach, but is a great playoff coach. That is all he would get anyone, why do you think they threw him out of Cleveland?

Your comments about Bowe make me laugh, he held out to get more money, joining LJ as one of the greedy punks on the team not worth what they are getting paid. I was patient with Croyle for two games until I watched him force EVERY pass he tried to make rather than being patient. Now, if you can help me out here with the "talent" that Marty was given, or how this "rebuilding" year is different than the last 15, I might agree...but until then, my thoughts are in black and white.

Sorry I am jumping in late on this.

I wonder if you guys are really Chiefs fans. Because a real Chiefs fan already knows they suck and don't expect anything out of them ever.

I'm surprised that drew03 has that much passion left in him about the Chiefs.

I will agree with him that nothing good ever happens with King Carl around.

We know he will fall flat on his face again and hopefully prove to the surviving Hunt family he sucks and should go to a very poorly run retirement home full of Raiders burn outs from the 70s.

I am not and have not ever been a Chiefs fan. I live just southwest of KC, and each year, I hope they do well, but damnit all to Hell if they do not screw it up. I do not dislike the team, I despise Carl. He is a waste of millions of dollars each year. I know a few middle school kids who can draft better than he can...

Drew are you serious??? Rebuilding since 93???? Wow thats an intelligent sounding response... 93 I believe they made the AFC Champ game with who playing QB?....Had very possibly the best defense for the better half the 90's, what wins championships?? Oh yes....But who was the coach and when is the last time he won a playoff game??? Oh yes great playoff coach well said...Had talent in San Diego didnt he??? Marcus Allen was a Chief yes for pretty much the entire second half of his career not just the end of it.... I believe Okoye hasnt played for the Chiefs in the last 15 years so we can scratch him out of this discussion...Andre Rison played I think 2 maybe 3 years for the Chiefs had 1 incredible year for them and dont believe he had any problems his time there....Vanover what a return man for only a few years just like almost every other returner in the history of the NFL, short lived, and how long was he a Chief after he had all the problems??? Oh yeah Grbac was really at the end of his career wasnt he? Maybe 30 or so when he signed with Baltimore hmm....And it just has to be so bad to see your team win 10+ games year after year and squeak into the playoffs thats just horrible isnt it...I think Kansas City was in like the top 3 or 4 in wins in the 90's... Now to the nowaday Chiefs... Of course Brodie had to force passes what else can a QB do with that little time in the pocket??? So my comments saying Bowe showed signs of being something special make you laugh??? Did I say a word about how much money he was making? Dont think so...One thing you are somewhat right about there are a bunch of greedy punks on the team but gimme a team besides maybe the Pats that dont have that... I also enjoy how you say the Chiefs traded away OUR best player then yet say you cant stand the Chiefs then yet again you say you hope they do well every year.... Talk about having thoughts in black and white....

And to BigReds comments....So a real fan is supposed to put their team down and never look for the positive??? Sounds like a STL fan to me...never forget the game last year against the Pirates I think it was in the 13th inning with the Cards only like 6 games out about 2/3 of the way thru the season and about half of Busch Stadium was empty....What fans....

Good Job with your history of the Cheifs through the 90's. Maybe you should include the walls we ran into in the playoffs

And yes you stick with them when they stink. Were you sitting in Arrowhead with about 100-200 other fans in the 80s? This fan base now will fill that stadium regardless sending no message to King Carl.

By the way your extra periods and question marks do not add extra emphasis to your remarks.

Cardiac said it all about the Cubs. Maybe you can tell us their recent history of near nothing in such detail as the Cheifs, or maybe you can tell us how there were no good teams (including Cubs) to give the Cards a run in 2006?

Hey Cardiac: Maybe global warming has something to do with the Cubs?
