bclift65706 Posted May 1, 2008 Author Posted May 1, 2008 does anyone else fish the fork around Rader . I am going to float this weekend been realising everything but this weekend I may have a dinner date with some goggeleye.
Wayne SW/MO Posted May 1, 2008 Posted May 1, 2008 I've fished the lower end many times. Its on my "Like to fish " list. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
creek wader Posted May 2, 2008 Posted May 2, 2008 Only made down there one time, several years ago. We were doing fairly well on smallies at the start, then we got caught in a torrential downpour and the fishing turned off. Always wanted to go back, but it's too far of a drive. Glad to hear your catching them. If you keep the reports up, I might have to find time. wader
Members mofisher Posted May 2, 2008 Members Posted May 2, 2008 Have you tried above Rader, or is that as far up as you've been? What are you catching them on? Last weekend I did very well on a black 1/8 oz head with an olive grub tail, on the Whetstone east of Hartville.
bclift65706 Posted May 3, 2008 Author Posted May 3, 2008 I have cought some above rader even stoped the other day on kilburn bridge an cought 1 on the first cast. Floated today for 7 hours started out ok the water was a little stained and as the water cleared the fish turned off. did bring home 10 BIG goggle eye. cought some real nice smallmouth looke like they were about to bust with eggs. all fish mostly cought on medium to large live minnows and a few on artificial but not many. the goggel eye I brought home were from 7 to 9 in the smallmouth cought I measurd all of them were 11 to 15 in so hopefuley they will make a good comeback this year if everyone will obay the conservation regulations.

Sounds like you had a good time.. I think it's hilarious that my boss can't seem to catch any goggleye on the Gasconade. He says "I only catch them one at a time", to which I responded, "try dropping the Anchor!" Any of you use top water poppers to catch bass? I use either poppers or small crawdad lures if I want good all around action.... BTW, what is the length limit on Goggleye in the Gasconade? Isn't it 8 inches? cricket.c21.com

I dont think their is a leingth limit on the Gasconade. In some of the tributaries on the fork it is skyline drive bridge withch is just down a few hundred yards from the Orla Mill on Plaster's Empire Ranch their is 8in limit on goggleye. Dont get cought on that place. He ownes land on boath sides of the river an the land under the river to. Thats what they claim anyway I dont know how the law is anymore so I just dont fish their just to save problems.

That's what I had thought, but I had three different people out on the Gasconade (right down stream from the 133 access on I44) threaten to report me for the three Goggleye in my cooler that "obviously weren't 8 inches long" (actually one was 7 3/4 inches, and the other two were over 8) But you just repeated what the conservation book said, so I will go with that answer... As for Plaster's empire.. I know what you mean.. There's seems to be a difference in what the law is and what Plaster wants.. You get all defiant until you are banking at twin bridges and the guys come out of the woods in camo with their fully automatic MP5's with lazer sights pointed in your face and tell you to get lost... The phrase "I know my rights and you can't do this" just don't seem to well up as strong as they should in America... cricket.c21.com
