I'll be driving through Southwest Missouri in mid May on my way home from school and was thinking of getting a half day of trout fishing on Crane Creek. If the weather is nice, and the water is not flooded, what do you think? Does this place get crowded with lots of anglers?

Crane is very crowded in may, MOSTLY SNAKES, but no it is usually not crowded, just the odd angler here and there.

Wear a good tick repellent, last time I was there I'll bet I picked 30 ticks before I got home and several more after getting home, looks like a good tick season this year.

Tim is right on with the SNAKES...

I was born at night, but not last night.

Odds are with the prepared...

Sometimes the snakes will lay in the bushes and attack in groups 10 or 15 at a time, they usually go for the ankles and then for the throat when they get you down, mean nasty snakes. Ozark attack snakes.

And those ticks aren't ordinary ticks, they're all carriers of the fever. Every last one of em. And the mosquitoes there aren't ordinary mosquitoes, they all carry malaria. And the poison ivy there...

Even the trout are vicious- be careful wading. The McCloud rainbow is known for ripping holes in waders with its inch long fangs. Wear steel lined waders if possible

Beware of the gangs of rabid bandito squirrels. Also there's spiders ..... don't even get me started on the spiders. PC

Thanks for the replies everybody. I'll keep my eyes out for the snakes and try not to hook any accidentally on my backcast...

I think I'm fishing crane in the morning, if the snakes and the rabid rabbits don't get me I'll post a report.

If no report is made by friday, come looking for the remains :)
