Fly_Guy Posted May 1, 2008 Posted May 1, 2008 Greetings - I was wondering if the crappie are spawning in either of these three lakes, and which lakes are good for crappie in general. I'm also a bank fisherman (until I win that new nitro bass boat in a raffle).
Members brianbarker Posted May 2, 2008 Members Posted May 2, 2008 Best place to almost always find crappie is McDaniels bridge. I don't think I've ever been down there and not seen atleast 1 person catch a crappie. Even though sometimes it is only 1. Members nathan RN Posted May 3, 2008 Members Posted May 3, 2008 i don't think that any of the fish are going to spawn until water temp gets a little higher mid 60's. i couldn't find any crappie yet in fellows lake.
Fly_Guy Posted May 8, 2008 Author Posted May 8, 2008 Thanks guys - by the way - do you know if there are hybrids in Fellows? I saw several guys with live bluegill catching what were either huge whites, or smallish hybrids two days ago.
Hunter91 Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 I caught 5 crappie at Lk Springfield last week. They were either males or females that had already spawned as they sure did not have round bellies. They did have a bunch of the little "pepper" spots on all their fins. I am not a fan of this parasite so all were released. I have caughta lot of white bass on fellows but never any hybrids.
Members brianbarker Posted May 9, 2008 Members Posted May 9, 2008 Don't believe there is any hybrids in Fellows. None have been stocked and without stripers, there couln't possibly be any hybrids. Fellows only connects to the Little Sac river and McDaniels lake, neither of which have stipers or hybrids, so they were surely big whites. With all of the shad I would never figure a white to be feeding enough on bluegill to be productive bait but who knows... I've seen weirder things fishing.
