Members wells203 Posted May 7, 2008 Members Posted May 7, 2008 Any thoughts on the water for swimming in the lake this summer? I heard that there is sewage and pollutents in the lake. What do you think? Thanks

focused fishing Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 Sewage & pollutants in Table Rock? With an overmatched sewage plant in Ozark, hundreds of chicken farms up the White, Kings and Flat Creek, thousands of unmaintanied septic tanks through out the area. Naw, there ain't no pollution in Table Rock all this fresh water washed it out, jump in the water's fine....... CMAC Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 I'd swim there, once you have been in LOTO you'd swim anywhere!!!
Cajunangler Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 I've heard it is so bad it is a miracle the fish aren't dying and floating to the surface. In fact, it is so bad I've heard reports that it is causing the seals in lower untis and trolling motors to break down and fail. This is especially true on boats involved in weekend tournaments and personal watercraft (wave runners), since they are in the water so long. If I were a tournament fisherman or sea doo owner I would avoid Table Rock like the plague. Okay, so that isn't exactly the truth but merely a wishfull thought to help redcue boat traffic on wekends. Unfortunately, I doubt anyone involved in those activities will be reducing their water time no matter what.
Wayne SW/MO Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 I did hear Moonshine Beach may not open this year..... I suspect that is true. Its under water and even after it goes down there will probably be what the COE considers damage to repair. As for pollutants, I would think the lakes are cleaner right now, they've certainly had a good flush. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
zander Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 I think the water will be fine and I'll be swimming in it as will my family this summer. And Cajunangler..... I hope you aren't serious. In the ten years I spent living in Louisiana, I only got sick from the water once, and that was after I spent 8 hours wading through a beaver swamp marking timber for the forestry company I worked for. I swam in countless bayous, creeks, lakes, and the Red River. (EDIT- Cajunangler I reread your post and saw that you WERE kidding after all, thank the Lord, I was getting worried ) This water up here is infinitely cleaner in my opinion. But maybe it is a good thing people are talking about the water being "dirty", maybe that way it won't be as crowded for me as it was last year.
Cajunangler Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 No, the first part of my post was just a joke. I know Babler has made comments recently about the enourmous quantity of boats and water craft on weekends and thought there might be an angle to reduce that. And as for cleaner water, growing up in south Louisiana I am fully aware that everything bad flows down river. Just one look at the Mississippi in New Orleans is all anyone needs to know that. Cleaner water, air and 4 legitimate seasons is what brought my family north, not to mention the lack of mosquitos.
