bclift65706 Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 heard the suckers are making a good run up the fork . Big piles of them at low water crossings. I thought grabbing season was closed but is open untill may 15 on every thing but paddel fish.with the rain and high water there is no telling ware the fish may end up. The fish are now within 15 to 20 miles of ware the river starts never heard of any thing like this here with the big poulation of fish in the hundreds anyway. I did see a big stringer of the fish so the report I belive to be true.Water was dirty today so couldent see fo myself.
hoglaw Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 What's the technique for "grabbing?" Do you sneak up on fish, or hide out with your hands in the water and wait for them to come to you?
Members whetstone Posted May 9, 2008 Members Posted May 9, 2008 In the spring, suckers will congregate above the swift water to spawn. The technique is to throw a hook in amongst them and pull, thus "grabbing" the fish.
Kayser Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 Ok, so it's just snagging. Is there a season for it? Sounds like fun. Rob WARNING!! Comments to be interpreted at own risk. Time spent fishing is never wasted.
Members whetstone Posted May 10, 2008 Members Posted May 10, 2008 There is a season, it ends May 15. It is a lot of fun, and takes a little more know-how than you'd think. However... it ain't rocket surgery either.
