Fishing Report 11/27/05

Generation on the White River has been light during the day with some generation in the late afternoon and evening. We've had some rain this week and more last night which should bring the lake level up some. I'd like to see the levels back up to normal pool by Feb 1st 2006 or even more.

Fishing this last week has been good with egg patterns and especially with Unreal Eggs TMC #14 2457 or 2487. Our best fish of the weeks is a 17" brown trout. Olive Buggers #10's are producing some numbers of fish. Zebra midges in #18's black are working very well also. Spawning action is picking up on the upper end of the river from wildcat shoals to the Dam. I did check out the the C&R area one day to see what was going on and there are lots of Rainbow Redds as well as some large brown trout redds. Other spawning areas are also seeing some action and again this year it looks as though the rainbows are going to have a good spawn. Usually we see some BWO's at this time of year but this guide has only seen a few on the upper end of the river. There are reports of larger hatches down below Cotter. Midges on cold morning when the sun is shining have been prolific and thick. December should see some good fishing with some big boys being caught just above and below the riffles on various flys including Sculpin, Black buggers, Tungsten bead blood midges as well as Zebra Midges.
