gabe Posted May 12, 2008 Posted May 12, 2008 Conming to the Rock June 8-13th for a family vacation at Big Cedar. Dad gets to fish in the early morning while the girls are still getting up. What will be the normal pattern regarding bait selection/presentation? Also, is there a decent topwater bite that time of year? Thanks for your input..
rps Posted May 12, 2008 Posted May 12, 2008 Yes, there is usually a very good topwater bite in early June. Be on the water as soon as you can see to drive the boat. Use spooks, chugbugs, and wakebaits. (There are some good threads on redfins in the archives). Unless it is overcast, the bite normally quits shortly after the sun hits the water. In normal water years, I then switch to plastics and fish the 15 to 25 foot range. Right now water 15 feet deep is in the middle of forests. I don't know if that will be true in four weeks, but I suspect it will be. I don't know if the fish will move out and down as usual or stay up in the cover. For the answers to those questions, this forum will be your ticket. Hope you have a great trip.
