JobyKSU Posted May 14, 2008 Posted May 14, 2008 Well, with the high water and lack of wading opportunities, I've been finishing up a few projects. I put the last coat of finish on my 8'6" 4wt Sage XP. This was my first time using the flex coat lite finish. I put two coats on, but I may strip it off and put 3 really lite coats on. The lite is really easy to work with, but easy to get too much on - some of the guide finishes are a bit wavy. I also had to block up my work room and leave lights on to get the temperature up to 75 or so - the finish stayed tacky much longer than I expected (about 18 hours). This was also my first try at a feather inlay. I went with a simple three-feather look. It doesn't show up that well here, but looks fantastic in the sun. I think next time I'll try a couple of really thin accent trim wraps instead of single thicker trim bands. I'm definitely sticking with the metallic thread though. Anyway, I'm looking forward to getting on the water with this thing. ::. JobyKSU Tippet Breaker Extraordinaire
Danoinark Posted May 14, 2008 Posted May 14, 2008 Very Nice...I sure like the reel seat. Dano Glass Has Class "from the laid back lane in the Arkansas Ozarks"
JobyKSU Posted May 14, 2008 Author Posted May 14, 2008 Thanks, Dano. I wish I could take credit for making it, but the reel seat and handle are maid by American Tackle and were really well priced. They also have the full wells grip which I'm thinking about for my 8wt and some finished hardwood One of these days I'll turn my own grip and reel seat, but until then, I really like these. ::.
