Members msubobcats
Wife and I, along with her aunt and uncle, are taking our first float on the Buffalo on Memorial Day weekend (yeah, I know, but I didn't pick the date). Gonna float from Baker Ford back to Gilbert, or Tyler to Gilbert, but that one seems awful short. Wife and I typically try for the ten-twelve milers with no fishing, or shorter trying for smallmouth, goggleye, etc. We will be floating on Sunday to try and avoid most of the riffraff. Anyhoo, since reading this forum I have picked up some Rapala CD-3's and 5's, and am looking for any other last minute tips for our first Buffalo adventure. Thanks. hoglaw
tubes. You should fish tubes. I would also throw shakey head finesse worms. Also, you won't encounter nearly as much "riff raff" on the Buffalo as you do on other waters. Most of the people (at least on the last holiday weekend I went) will be families. Members delta_queen
My tip or trick for you is to start out as early as possible or as late as possible that Sunday. The Sunday of Memorial day weekend is swamped with people. It's a canoe parade. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ home waters = Tombigbee River, Mississippi River, Buffalo River, and S. Sylamore Creek, S. chub minnow
More specifically, small tubes 3" or less and you'll catch more fish (Bitsy Tubes). The shakey head is great as well, try a big zoom trick worm. I also like the YUM 2.5" craw bugs. Tear part of a pincher off and watch out! The smallies seem to love these smaller craws, esp. in a green color.
hoglaw
10-4 on the trick worms. I prefer white. Not sure about the bass.

Picking up some 3" tubes today (all I have are grubs) and should be ready to hit the water this weekend. Go cats
Members riverdawg
New poster here, great forum! We are putting on the Rush to Ship's Ferry float Sunday. I have fished this stretch 3 or 4 times and the most productive lure I have thrown is Mini Dad from Bass Pro on 4 pound test. It catches everything from smallies to punkin seeds. Hot N Tots are pretty good too, in crawfish pattern. Anyone know how the catfish are biting on the lower end?
