Sure I will. Unless we get a lot of rain real quick now, it's going to be a low-water year. I've had some real good white bass fishing in such years, in the past.

Instead of putting the boat in at McCord as usual, I'll be putting in at Bridgeport and working upstream. In past low-water years, a lot of good fishing has been down far downstream from the usual hot-spots. No problem, we'll find them.

When the whites do run the James how far do they typically run?

I dont know how far a White Bass can run but, I bet they sure look funny when the do run.

They always get to the Galena area, at least. I imagine it varies according to how much water is in the river, and it's going to be extremely low this year.

In past years with more water, I've caught white bass at Horse Creek (Kerr Access), which is several miles above Galena. I'd guess a few white bass may go until they get stopped by the Lake Springfield dam, but I don't know that for sure.

referring to the remark about white bass getting up to Springfield dam. Me and a freind caught about a half dozen 6 inch white bass about a mile below 160, campbell street bridge on the James. I thought that was pretty unusual. I sure wouldn't want to try and depend on that though!

I have heard there have already been some whites being caught on the lower end of the James. Is anyone else hearing this?

You know how it is with the white bass run. The little males come up the river first, then the larger males. Then the females come up, with the larger females last.

The few that go 'way too far up, to Hwy. 160 or maybe the dam, are going to be small males. You know how young guys always get carried away when they're looking for wimmen.
