A friend of mine walked the bank looking for spawning crappie on Saturday. He only caught 4, in areas where he's always done well. Looks like the Corps is dropping the lake at a decent clip, now, so that may have something to do with pulling the fish off the banks. And maybe the spawn is pretty well over already. The Corps says the water temp at the dam is 63 degrees.

Fishing below the dam is still pretty good, though, for whites, crappie, hybrids and cats.

We ran down four a couple of hours yesterday after lunch. We brough back 7 keepers and cought a few more little ones. We put in at Longshoal and headed up the Tebo a little ways and fished back in the coves I talked about last week. Still in the same places, but back off the bank in about 6' of water, at least up that way. The water was beautiful with just about the right amount of color...not too clear but not muddy in the least. I haven't been back towards Bucksaw in a while, I usually rely on their report for info, they update it once in a great while on their website. Still caught them on the grubs, one on a little pond magic spinner bait.

With the weather like this, though, catching is just a bonus...getting on the water is the real treat!!

I was up at Bucksaw yesterday, myself and a friend caught our limit of crappie, it was a very slow bite. The fish have pulled off the banks and we caught most of these out on the first row of trees about 6 to 8 ft. deep all on jigs, partner fished with minnows for a while and never got a bite! Best color was pink head black body pink tail. and charteuse and black caught some also. I think the rapidly dropping water has hurt the fishing, as most of the females still had eggs and appeared ready to soawn. Good luck!
