We broguht home 20 decent sized crappie eventhough the fishing was pretty slow. The fish we caught were in 22 to 30 foot of water right on the bottom.

Hello Guy! I am new to this website, and this is my first time to reply. Are you fishing deep for crappie or close to the bank? We fished last Sunday morning around the Sons creek area and caught 4 nice fish approx. 20 feet deep and also around 10 feet. We anchored up to a tree and vertical fished using white curly tailed jigs. After catching the 4 crappie, we struggled to get another bite. Have the crappie spawned yet?

We stayed out from the bank/brush line about 20 to 30 yards depending on the bank. I used a 1/2 oz of weight to get to the bottom then drift our minnows up and down the banks. I'm not sure if all the crappie have spawned yet or not, in my opinion some of the crappie will spawn in deeper water depending on specific water and weather conditions. If they do go to the bank to spawn it’s going to be hard to find them, or them find my bait. Does anybody know what the deepest a crappie will build a nest?
