Fishing Sunday And Monday

Got down Sunday by about 10:15am to fish with my brother Bob and Mom and Dad. Fishing was good Sunday for the first hour until the generation kicked in. After that we picked up a few bouncing jigs off the bottom from the big hole down to lookout, but there was no real consistant bite for us.

Monday morning was truely outstanding. I caught about 10 with a very small rapella using my new g2 spinning rod, which I must say is one of my favorite ways to fish. I love that rod. I used an eratic retrieve and they really hammered that lure. I would guess over half of the fish I caught were recent stockers , but I picked up a couple nice browns and a few colorful bows.

Bob and my parents were also doing well fishing midges, and around 9:15 I picked up my flyrod and we went up below lookout island. They were really sucking those midges down, nice trout and hitting on almost every good cast. It did not seem to matter which color I tried, red, black, green and orange all worked well. They turned off about 45 minutes after the generation started.

Went back out about 5pm and picked up some trout in heavy generation. There were many fish hitting on the surface in the evening. Not midging, but attaching something on top of the water. I could not get them to take the few dry flys that I tried, but I am not an experianced dry fly fisherman. I would be interested to see what some of you might suggest for these fish.

All in all, well worth the trip to fish with my family.

What size and type of line on that new g2 spinning rod?

I use 2 lb low vis green,. although with as stained as this water is, I am sure that 4 lb would work just as well.

I use the 2 lb so that I can throw a small jig as far as possible without changing spools.
