bigredbirdfan Posted June 19, 2008 Posted June 19, 2008 Heres the skinny. Most of the Nationwide and Craftsman drivers are not that good. Therefore the Cup drivers know that and come down to truck and nationwide to take their win money and time they want because it is just so easy. Until the drivers in those series setup they will continue to have their rear ends kicked. Face it there are not that many elite drivers period. Oh yea. I will further full the fire. I am a die hard Kyle Busch fan . Glad to see that Dale Jr. finally won a race. I like the guy. But is he really an elite driver?

I am a die hard Kyle Busch fan . Glad to see that Dale Jr. finally won a race. I like the guy. But is he really an elite driver? The NNS is supposed to be a developmental series to prepare drivers for the Cup series, but it is really just an extension of Cup nowdays. it depresses me. I recall when NNS provided the best racing of all three series, and offered more action due to inexperienced drivers trying things that should not be tried. The NNS drivers are great drivers, albeit not in the best equipment. Stick a Mike Wallace in a Gibbs car, and see what happens. I am happy for Keselowski, and I hope he can pull out the championship, but I doubt it as the Cup teams like to run NNS just to run it. It infuriates me when the top 3 in a race are Hamlin, Busch, Reutimann. It should read, Logano, Keselowski, Stremme. Nascar should limit how many non Cup races the drivers can race each year. That includes Cup and Truck. I won't even discuss the trucks here as they are essentially the old timers game of racing. Those drivers, most have had success in the other two series, and are therefore VERY good drivers. Dale Jr. rode his daddy's coattails into Cup, and does not deserve to be put into the same breath with those truly great drivers there. Jr is a waste of space, and has won 18 races. He is not even comparable to his daddy. He left DEI for the almighty $$$. He wanted controlling stake of DEI ($$$), and when Teresa said no, he left. What a whiney baby. He had to win on FUEL MILEAGE at Michigan, come on. That is a joke. His car was not even a top 10 car on the speed chart all day. Gordon, as much as I despise the Rainbow Warrior, was an amazing driver. I do not count Jimmie Johnson, I think he is an egotistic jack@$$, along with JR, who loves to mope after a race when luck threw him a bad hand. Personally, I think the three best, most talented, drivers in the Cup series are Robby Gordon, Kyle Busch, and Greg Biffle. All three have had success in other series, other sanctioning bodies, etc. My favorite is the king of bad luck, Greg Biffle. He does things in a car that is ill handling or broken that can't be done. He does not whine, or bitch. He will wreck someone for the win, which all of the cry babies in the garage forgot, is part of RACING, not points racing. Nascar needs to stop that crap (points racing) too! When is a true race car driver happy with third? THE POINT OF RACING IS TO WIN! Nothing else matters. Kyle Busch is amazing, hands down. Andy
bigredbirdfan Posted June 19, 2008 Posted June 19, 2008 And to think that Rick Hendrick took Kyle's ride to give to JR. What a dumb bass move. I hope they sell lots of Mountain Dew stuff to help offset the price for not winning. I guess the really big ? is who will be driving the #20 in the future??? Speaking of which what the hell is his problem this year? Is it all Toyota's fault he can't seem to find the top 5?
drew03cmc Posted June 21, 2008 Author Posted June 21, 2008 Kyle's equipment at Hendrick was not what the 24 and 48 ran. That I guarantee. Different shops. He is making more off JR from all the merchandise sales and stuff, so in his eyes, it is a good decision. Tony wants to drive a Chevy, no doubt about it, but where will he go? I see Logano in the 20 next year! Andy
Members KansasBoy13 Posted July 12, 2008 Members Posted July 12, 2008 I am a huge Gordon and Hendrick fan, however I really cant lean either way when it comes to the chase...Its different and sure Gordon had the best overall season last year and didnt win the championship but so did the Patriots so its kinda either way on that however the driver with most wins starts first when chase starts so I kinda think teams will take more risks to get a win cuz long as they're in top 12 they make chase anyway... I actually agree with a good chunk of what Drew said in this topic unlike our thoughts on the Chiefs... A little late jumping in to this topic but looks like Logano very well may be in the #20 car next year what a future for Gibbs with those three young kids... Hendrick definitely downgraded in ability with Jr but obviously getting more $$$ which is what racing is about anymore... He's not horrible by any means but look at what Kyle is doing now that he has this amazing equipment... I think Jr. is 3rd in points and right there every week so you can't say he's not an elite driver, but Kyle is on another level right now...But to say Jimmie and Jr. mope after a bad race (who wouldnt be upset after running 500 miles and not winning) is nothing compared to what Tony Stewart does oh my god its always someone elses fault... But I couldnt agree more about Drew's comments on the Nationwide Series... Its just like the minor leagues in baseball its about getting experience, however the big names do draw the crowds.... I do have one thought tho that just drives me insane... Dale Sr. was loved and known all for his aggressive get out of my way or I'll wreck you driving and Kyle is basically hated for those same reasons...Just dont get it any thoughts...

Ok, do you like the Yankees? That is the Hendrick Motorsports of the baseball world! They try to buy championships, rather than develop players and win them...What would have happened if they had the Chase when Richard Petty and David Pearson were wrecking each other? Would Petty have 7 championships? I doubt it. However, he was the BEST and deserved them, and yes, I think Gordon should have won it last year, although I despise Gordon. Why does the driver who has a 300+pt lead have to give those points back in the PREMIER division of American stock car racing? Because they want playoffs...Damnit, if you want playoffs, watch the NFL. I am SICK of people points racing. The point of racing is to WIN. If you are happy running 3rd, go find another sport. If they want to put a Chase into a series that needs it, how about the Nationwide series? I am sick of watching 800pt championship wins, and the winner being announced the race after KS. The Nationwide series used to offer the best racing, but now, I will watch the trucks or IRL. The move Busch pulled last night, everyone else would probably have wrecked coming off 2, but no, he stayed on the floor and passed Johnson (thank GOD!). I am telling you, it is not the equipment, it is the driver. Stewart and Hamlin have the same crap, but are they winning almost HALF the races? NOPE. Kyle Busch, 11 wins in 4yrs, Dale Jr, 18 wins in a decade...HMM...I think elite needs a definition. Dominance...There is the definition I was looking for. Gordon had it, Johnson had it, Kahne has had it and will again, Biffle has been close, Edwards has been close, Jr never has been close or had it, and never will. I think Jr should have been disowned by his family for leaving a team his father created FOR HIM just to get away from his step mommy. He is one egotistical person, who made the top series on daddy's coattails! That team is in the crapper next year. They lost Mark Martin. Wow, they have Truex, Almirola, and Menard. They might finish top 20 in points with one car. Andy
