Hunter91 Posted February 28, 2006 Posted February 28, 2006 I fished Friday and Saturday for walleye out of Beaver creek. Had very little luck with only a couple of short walleye on jig and minnows. I did however catch a fair amount of largemouth and kentuckies throwing a clown colored pointer on gravel banks. Largest bass was about 19 inches. Also caught two crappie on the pointer that were 12 and 14 inches on the same banks. fish generally hit about 8 to 10 ft deep.
Brian K. Shaffer Posted February 28, 2006 Posted February 28, 2006 When you say " caught two crappie on the pointer ", does that mean on the first hook of a fore and aft hooked bait ? Like the crappie hit the bait up front ? I'm kinda new to learning bass-speak. Thanks - Brian Just once I wish a trout would wink at me! ozarkflyfisher@gmail.com I'm the guy wearing the same Simms longbilled hat for 10 years now.
Wayne SW/MO Posted February 28, 2006 Posted February 28, 2006 Brian the Pointer is a jerk bait. Expensive, but very effective. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.

Members PowersiteProwler Posted March 1, 2006 Members Posted March 1, 2006 Hunter91, Where were you fishing on Beaver Creek? How are the water levels up the creek towards the tin horns? Can you even get up that far right now?
Wayne SW/MO Posted March 1, 2006 Posted March 1, 2006 There's lots of shoals between the lake and the tinhorns. You can see the bottom in all the holes above the first set of bends above the lake. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
Hunter91 Posted March 2, 2006 Author Posted March 2, 2006 I was fishing Beaver creek area down to about 2-3 miles past K dock. I heard you can fish all the way to the Barker hole without any real trouble.
Wayne SW/MO Posted March 3, 2006 Posted March 3, 2006 Hunter I think you could come up as far as the 76 bridge as long as you were cautious about staying in the channel. If a person wanted to do some night fishing out of a boat they could probably fish right in the fish hiway. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
