The fishing has been really great this week, the big rains all missed us last week, we had a bit of heavy rain before the weekend, but it only effected the river for a short time, the river was in great shape all weekend.

The dry fly fishing has been getting betters, we are still catching trout on beetles, ants, adams, lt. cahills, stimulators, and on small trico's in the mornings.

Good nymphing, the water is perfect for nymphing right now, the biggest problem I see is people are not putting enough weight on their lines, even while fishing a bead head you need a shot 10" or so up from your fly, the weight helps get the fly down where the fish are and it helps slow down the drift a bit, I have been using two flies most of the time, a copper john/zebra midge, or a pheasant tail/ micro egg combo is my favorite right now, we are still catching trout on sow bugs, hares ears, burlaps and soft hackles are good most of the day, a glo-ball or san juan worm will work most all day long. Woolybuggers are still very good, I'm using the bigger #8's or #10's early in the day, and when the sun is up good and high, I'll start using #14 woolybuggers, I like olive, black, and ginger the best right now, dk. brown has been good also.

Marabou jigs in olive, black/yellow, white, dk. brown and ginger have all been good, 1/32 and 1/16 are working well right now.

Powereggs, and power worms in yellow, white, orange and chartruse have all been good, and the hatch brown eggs are working better than ever right now.

Black, brown, olive, and white roostertails have all been working well.

If you are using crankbaits then the small rapalas, and small crankbait crawdads have all been good.

Spoons are working very well this year, the high water is great spoon water, a spoon sinks fast and the fish love em.

If you are fishing in zone 3, nightcrawlers, corn, cheese, and white powerbait has all been good, good luck on the river this week.

One of these days has turned into tomorrow morning! Ill make the 1 1/2 hour drive up to the Roaring River State Park from Fayetteville Arkansas and try my luck at catching some trout! Ive read over several of your posts and think I have what I need to be productive. If not, Ill swing by your fly shop when it opens!

Well my Roaring River fishing experience was much better this time around! I caught 11 this trip...3 were really nice ones! I caught 4 on dry flies...It was the size, not really the color that mattered 18-22. I got a few hits and landed one on a black wooly, a few on a chartreuse San Juan and got a few hits on a bead head prince. It wasnt as crowded as I expected, but I guess thats due to it being the middle of the week. I look forward to bringing my fishing buddies up that way sometime soon! Hopefully the dry fly fishing picks up more!

You want to go again tomorrow? Looks like rain, which hopefully will keep the crowds down. I don't know if I'm going for sure yet, but it looks promising.

hey tim - a bunch of friends from KC and I are making the trip this coming Mon - Wed. I've been tying lots of gnats and ants. My friend here at work says that you tie a mean foam beetle - I was wondering what size you generally tie them in? I probably will swing by your shop and pick up a few, but in the future, when I have more time, I'll try some. I'm not a fan of rubber legs through - course, it could be that I usually use worn out spinnerbait skirts. Is there some kind of leg material that you can buy? - in your video it appears that you just tie one piece of rubber, and it splits into three parts. Thanks, Brian
