Trav Posted July 1, 2008 Posted July 1, 2008 Lets put this to the test! "May success follow your every cast." - Trav P. Johnson
Fly_Guy Posted July 1, 2008 Posted July 1, 2008 Well Trav, the channels aren't taking off. I would suggest people check out a link on the upper taney poll showing the Red River Channels. For the record, I'd support all three, in varying amounts. Not many smallmouth, a few more walleye, but mostly channels.
Trav Posted July 1, 2008 Author Posted July 1, 2008 I think the idea that the banks will be lined with people fishing with nasty wads of chicken liver is whats turning them off. Or the miles of unattended trot lines, jug lines, or limb lines. Kind of turns my stomach as well, but I am sure there could be rules inacted to curb that. Fly_Guy Posted July 1, 2008 Posted July 1, 2008 It would be easy to put restrictions - say for example, only artificial bait, and no unattended fishing lines - with heavy fines. Trouble is enforcing it. I can see Joe Somebody sneaking down at night... Also - and this bugs me about lakes in general - clear posted rules about littering - and a flat $500 fine for doing so. Like you say - it would be doable.
Fly_Guy Posted July 1, 2008 Posted July 1, 2008 I guess by artificial you would have to include catfish baits... - hmmm... how would you go about setting bait restrictions - or would you?
Trav Posted July 2, 2008 Author Posted July 2, 2008 How about only "Live" bait. such as minnows and worms.???? "May success follow your every cast." - Trav P. Johnson
Fly_Guy Posted July 2, 2008 Posted July 2, 2008 How about flies only? - and nothing larger than a size #10
Trav Posted July 2, 2008 Author Posted July 2, 2008 Pretty hard to cast a fly with my spincasting gear! "May success follow your every cast." - Trav P. Johnson
