Members billybass Posted July 1, 2008 Members Posted July 1, 2008 I am buying a new Lowrance, would you suggest to go with the 50/200 transducer or the 200.
S&M Posted July 1, 2008 Posted July 1, 2008 200.....unless you're an avid ocean fisherman, then go with 50/200 What Lowrance unit are you looking at, or what's your budget for a graph ? How do I deal with those who ignore the 50 yard encroachment rule?......I show them just how accurate I am with a crank bait!
Fishing Buddy Don House Posted July 2, 2008 Fishing Buddy Posted July 2, 2008 The dual frequency is a waste of time unless you are a walleye troller with planer boards. The 50 is too wide to do you any good and the 200 is a 12° which is too small. Just get a single 200 kHz with a 20° xducer. Billybass, take this from someone who uses his unit like you use your car, the dual frequency is not a waste of time at all, even more important here on Table Rock Lake.. A vertical fishing must have! I used mine everyday and can use this feature to tell if the fish are under the boat or on the side just because of the dual frequency transducer, can also use it to get a better 2D picture of an underwater trees or brush piles. . You can run the single 200mhz but you are missing alot of information.. Good Fishing Capt. Don Capt. Chris Tetrick Posted July 2, 2008 Posted July 2, 2008 Billybass, run a new, hot transducrer under your tolling motor and you'll be able to see anything that swims or crawls below your boat. Hats off with Humminbirds side imaging, but with Lowrance, verticall you can't go wrong. I run a 37-c unit and can see a tiny tiny swivel above a shot drop in 40' of water. 50 or 200, just make sure you've got good connections to the battery your graph's getting it's power from, away from any connections from the trolling motor. Billy, nice choice of graphs. You can't go wrong with either one of those units, very very nice units indeed.
