The Caddis Posted July 3, 2008 Posted July 3, 2008 Everytime I have tried to take a day off and go fishing they schedule generation all day. Last week I couldn't get off and they have the power off all day. I decide to schedule the 3rd, and what do I get unfishable conditions....
Danimal Posted July 3, 2008 Posted July 3, 2008 Just a hunch, but I have a feeling they're gonna pull the lake down thru Thursday and then give us some fishable water over the long weekend. It'll be crowded of course. Dan-o RELEASE THOSE BROWNIES!!
The Caddis Posted July 3, 2008 Author Posted July 3, 2008 Yes, but the problem with that scenario is I am unable to get away over the weekend.
DaddyO Posted July 3, 2008 Posted July 3, 2008 Brother, I hear you. I'm a desk jockey during the week and I live vicariously through the members on this forum until I can actually make it down to the river. I've been religiously watching the generation schedule and the water levels on the Upper and Lower Illinois. My Boss has a fly rod but has never been fly fishing nor has he ever floated the Upper Illinois and fished fro the smallies. Sometime during the week of the 7th I'm taking him to the Upper for smallies or Lower for trout depending on conditions. Good luck to you. I hope you eventually get to feed your habit. DaddyO We all make decisions; but, in the end, our decisions make us.

Doesn't look like they want anybody to fish all holiday weekend - scheduled to generate all weekend long even though the lake is only up 4-5 feet or so. You would think they would care about tourism and the fishery along the illinois river - especially over the 4th. Scott
The Caddis Posted July 4, 2008 Author Posted July 4, 2008 I saw that, generation tomorrow. Here's hoping for a chance on Monday or Tuesday
The Caddis Posted July 6, 2008 Author Posted July 6, 2008 OK, so generation at least through Monday. I'm off until Thursday so here's betting that Thursday will be the first day with no generation?
Zach Bearden Posted July 7, 2008 Posted July 7, 2008 I've come to the conclusion that I officially hate the Core.... With all of the water running its pushed the striper up and (I personally think) the trout down. When the water was off we would go striper fishing and never once did I see the small sips of a trout. I'm trying to convince mom to take me to Roaring River for a bit of Polish Nymphing but with gas so high shes not budging. Theres nowhere else around here to trout fish. "Its clearly Bree time baby!" Danimal Posted July 7, 2008 Posted July 7, 2008 That's where I went today. Several hook-ups on the foam beetle, but only got one to the net. Lost 2 really nice ones. Dan-o RELEASE THOSE BROWNIES!!
