Danoinark Posted July 8, 2008 Posted July 8, 2008 100% behind you Chief. If I see someone who appears to be ignorant of the regs, I will let them know what they are doing wrong. Once they keep fishing after they ignore the regs (this person knew it), then as in this case by his own actions, he earned the ticket. Whoa Kevin! Chief Greybear is a long time member here and Dave was referring to him in the post. Dano Glass Has Class "from the laid back lane in the Arkansas Ozarks"

NoLuck Posted July 8, 2008 Posted July 8, 2008 Last year at Montauk state park I reported two guys that were fishing in the fly only area with bait and were catching numerous fish. They knew exactly what they were doing. One guy even was using a fish basket for the fish he was keeping. I know for sure I saw him KEEP 7 fish. There were fish in the basket before I started counting too. After they clued into me watching them they got up and went to leave. The one fella then got out a big black trash bag to put the full fish basket in. I followed them up to the vehicle they were driving to get a plate number and went to the park office to turn them in. After I ate lunch I came back through and was surprised to see the CO had them out of their vehicle and searching them. They had both guys in hand cuffs when I turned around and came back through. Did I feel good about it?? You betcha!!! If people would be diligent and turn these law breakers in more often instead of just turning away things would be a lot better. You can complain all you want but, unless you do something about it it will continue. I'm glad you had the fortitude to do the right thing. Rich
Greg Posted July 8, 2008 Posted July 8, 2008 Chief you did exactly the right thing. I see what some of the others are saying - but the problem with "bending" regulations (or laws) is they tend to get more and more bent as time goes on. I've done a few things I'm not proud of in my life (who hasn't) but I've never broken an MDC regulation. Chief Grey Bear Posted July 8, 2008 Author Posted July 8, 2008 I thought those who protect resources were called conservationist. Most liberals aren't even sure where food comes from. That's funny because, that ain't what you call them when they won't let you drill Alaska. And they must know better than others where food comes from, as they seem to be the only ones trying to protect those resources that the food comes from. bigredbirdfan Posted July 8, 2008 Posted July 8, 2008 That's funny because, that ain't what you call them when they won't let you drill Alaska. And they must know better than others where food comes from, as they seem to be the only ones trying to protect those resources that the food comes from. I want to protect all of the animals in ANWAR by drilling wells and removing that oil that might someday come out of the ground and kill the little animals. So you see I care about resources. And after all the area that should have already been drilled in on a scale is the size of a postage stamp on a football field. So I can be a conservationist, a liberal and a conservative. How cool is that? Now that I'm a liberal I feel all good inside.
WebFreeman Posted July 8, 2008 Posted July 8, 2008 I thought those who protect resources were called conservationist. Most liberals aren't even sure where food comes from. I usually stay out of these hot topic discussions, but that doesn't even make sense. In terms of laws, games laws seem to be as cut and dry as they come. Whether his wife or your friends can catch fish is a moot point. They were in violation and it's up to the discretion of the agent to write a ticket or not no matter how noble the intentions. “Many go fishing all their lives without knowing that it is not fish they are after.” — Henry David Thoreau Visit my web site @ webfreeman.com for information on freelance web design.
