Members bb3605s Posted March 3, 2006 Members Posted March 3, 2006 I have never been to Montauk and I am trying to plan a trip down there. What are some of the good cabins to stay at and which ones are close to the park?
10pointer Posted March 4, 2006 Posted March 4, 2006 my family has stayed at reeds cabins for 25+ years or whenever they opened. Art and Kelly the new owners have done an excellent job with renovations and have a nice in ground pool, pavillion for fires and get togethers and have an overall excellent place. The rooms almost all have double beds full kitchens, dining areas, and a full bathroom. The price is well worth the cost compared to the other area cabins etc. They are located at the top of the hill you go down entering the park at montauk. That puts you within 1/4 mile from the water. You can walk the trails down to the river or drive the shortshort distance. the lodge has nice cabins but i dont think they are as nice and cost more and are smaller than reeds. The folks at reed's have all the amenities one could need and are happy to help you pick out the best stuff in there store. tell them jason gramann sent ya www.reedscabin.com
Greg Posted March 5, 2006 Posted March 5, 2006 My family and I usually camp in our popup at Montauk. But a couple of times we have stayed at the parks cabins. They are pretty nice. There are several upscale ones that are really nice. The problem is that you have to book them months in advance. I have heard Reeds cabins are nice also. Last year we also stayed in a bed and breakfast that was pretty cool but it was about a half hour drive from montauk which was kind of a pain. http://www.riverbirchlane.us/sportsmen.htm You might also check out the links on this page: http://www.missouritrout.com/montauklinks.html Good luck, Greg "My biggest worry is that my wife (when I'm dead) will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it" - Koos Brandt Greg Mitchell
Members MSR Webmaster Steve Posted March 6, 2006 Members Posted March 6, 2006 Hello. A complete list of every camping/lodging/cabin option available to Montauk State Park has been conveniently placed under the camping section of the following page: http://www.MontaukPark.com Basically, you have 8 places in which you can get some shut-eye. All are great!
