You Need To Read This Before Comming Down This Week

Just thought everybody would like to know, the conservation dept. will be removing a log baffle up by the hatchery and replacing it with chunk rock, starting today, hatchery manager told me this should only be a two day ordeal, maybe one day. Of course while the digging is going on, the river will be muddied up some. As soon as the digging is over it should clear quickly.

After the log baffle is replaced, the digging crew will be going down to the S curve(copper head bend) and will be removing the gravel that was deposited there this spring by our floods, so this shouldn't be a real problem, but with gas prices and all I thought you all should know about what is going on.

I was told that them might do some digging next week, but not sure where. I'll let you all know as soon as I hear something

I was wondering about that Tim. After the first flood, the fill under that log dam was really washed out to the point very little water was coming over the top. Wonder if they will use the "horseshoe" design there too?

Steve, Jerry at the hatchery told me it was going to be constructed just like the rest of the baffles.

I told him to tell them to build it hight enough to hlold some water back.

I also told them to look at that hole in front of the lodge, see if they could put more rock

in there and try to build it as high as it used to be before they worked on it last winter.

That's a good deal Tim. I heard they were moving one of those pit toliets down to the ball field at the old dam. That's really needed in that part of the park.

Steve, I think you are right, the DNR is going to put the pit toilet in. I wish it was already done, one has been needed for a long time.

The work has not started yet, but the crane is in postion, ready to go.
